Hey guys, I just had a quick question.

When my boyfriend and I received the NHIC booklets with our name, ARC numbers and registration numbers, there are about three separate dates on the first two pages. My boyfriend can read Hangul but we can't quite figure it out. If you have and understand your booklet, we'd appreciate it if you could englighten us!

The first number is from 2010.04.22-2010.05.31, and appears to be located above the issuing office's name on the first page.

The second number, 2010.04.22, is on the top of the second page, in a column beside our names and ARC numbers. Then, there is a third number at the bottom of that page - 2010.04.28.

Can anybody clear these up for us? I'm assuming one set is the issuance date, but I'm not sure what one. Could the 2010.04.22-2010.05.31 number set be a misprint, and actually mean until May 2011? The reason we are asking is because we think we've been conned into paying extra by our boss. Before we ask our (super loyal to our boss) coworkers to translate it for us, we thought we'd see what other people thought. We were kind of thrown into everything and there was a lot of confusion at the time, so we just want to clear things up. If what I wrote was confusing I can also give more information about the circumstances.

Thanks guys!
Janna

Can you type the hangul here? I'd remember if I could see it.

And for what it's worth, you should go to an international clinic and ask them about it, because they see them every day. My boss used to pay by the month for some reason. I'd get June's on about June 8th, with a validity date of June 1-June 30, then July's about July 7th, with a validity from July 1-July 31. What matters is what's in the computer, your card doesn't mean squat.

Thanks for your response. Please see the pics in the links.

Mainly, we're just wondering when our coverage started. I'm not so concerned about current coverage. We arrived in Korea in January, and with after lots of complaining, our boss finally took us in April to the health insurance office . If all the dates on the booklet state April, that would probably mean that coverage commenced in April, right? The reason why I'm asking is because he made us pay past dues, because he didn't know he was legally obligated to insure us. Don't get me wrong, that's total BS, but if he then intentionally made us pay when NHIC was kind enough to ignore the fact that we had arrived in January then we have some serious ammo with which to support our arguments. We also naively assumed that we didn't need to get Korean health insurance immediately, thanks to our boss's complete lack of knowledge of what it entails to run a hagwon. We insured that our traveller's insurance would cover us until we got Korean insurance.

....Please tell me this does not say that our insurance was valid for one month.
