That's the absolute bottom of the price range in Korea, there is a lot of choice though.

Here are pretty much all of your options on Gmarket.

Here's my favorite gadget review site. Only, it won't cover some of the Korean brand netbooks not sold elsewhere. I bought a Hansung despite complete lack of English documentation/reviews anywhere and love it.

Happy hunting.

All the netbooks are essentially the same, except for the integrated graphics.

I did a lot of research on them a month ago. Basically, you want the new ION platform Netbooks. The ION's can play HD content no problems. They are around 700,000w right now. I would wait because the prices should be dropping soon.

Like Underwaterbob, I bought a Hansung netbook maybe about a year ago and I'm quite happy with it. I don't know if I could play HD content with it or not, that's not what I bought it for and anyway, for the screen size, I don't think it would matter that much.

Here's an example:
http://gen.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=187995769&pos_shop_cd=SH&pos_class_cd=111111111&pos_class_kind=T&search_keyword=넷북

The only thing, though, is that maybe in "theory" you could use the battery for 8 hours, but in reality it's closer to a maximum of 5, and I'd say that on average it's more like between 4 to 4.5 hours, which is not bad anyway.

I run a Hanspree Netbook, a 6 cell battery. I uninstalled Windows XP. I installed Arch Linux.

I didn't do anything special with the battery settings and I can get 5 hours easy. If you need more time you can always mess with the volts on the CPU and turn down the hard drive spin to something low.

Shutting off Wifi and Bluetooth is a must as well.

I don't know why people make a deal out of HD videos. I have no problem running HD stuff and the processor is an Atom with an integrated GPU.

Try running a flash HD video. Go to Youtube and watch a 720p or 1080p flash HD video full screen and tell me your netbook doesn't skip frames.

For me, its important because I need a netbook to output video to the 60 inch HDTV in my classroom. Multimedia lessons are pointless if the video stutters to the point of being unwatchable.

As for the OP, since the ION netbooks are coming out in more numbers, the other older models should be falling in prices.

I will test it when I get home, and post the system results. Smile

Well, no offence, but it's rather disappointing that you are even asking the question. Sad It shows that you didn't spend much time searching for it. Either you didn't even click on the link I provided in my previous post, which was specifically for a Hansung netbook, or you did and didn't take the time to scroll down (the answer is in both Korean and English in several places).

As for an English manual... what for? I'm not sure I'm following you there. Don't you know how to use a computer? Maybe that means a Hansung netbook isn't a good choice for you because you will have to provide the OS from a USB drive or an external CD drive... but at least they did have instructions on how to do this. Wink

Sorry if I sound a bit rude, but really, it's as if you were posting to ask what time it is. Take at least a few minutes of your time and take a look! Other people will gladly help you, but you have to do some efforts on your side as well.

I'll be using it in the classroom (with the big screen TV), too, so I guess I should wait for the ION netbooks to drop in price.

Love it... doesn't matter how big the TV is! Needless willy waving there Smile

Good point well made though.
