I don't know how many of you guys know about this but just some quick information.

OnLive is a service where you play games through streaming. Meaning you play games on your PC, Laptop or Mac through a small downloaded OnLive software which connects you to their beefed up computers where the game is actually installed. So you can play all the games that machine has streaming.

In other words you can have the complete opposite to a gaming machine and still get top end 720p graphics.

What do you guys think about this? I personally think the idea is great, I'm not sure if I would do it, it all depends on the subscription price I guess.

Here's a video showing how well it works.

Sure, this sounds nice, until you find out the details.

You pay up to $15 per month for the service, this is above and beyond your normal internet or TV service. Then you have to pay FULL RETAIL price for any game you want to play. Oh yeah, and you don't get a physical copy, so if OnLive screws up and goes belly up in the next year, you'll lose the games.

There is the "rental" option, $5-10 for a week's use or something like that.

As I said, great idea. The details and the follow-through kind of suck though.

It's also a moot point as you have to be in the continental United States.
If you were the price is free for a year until July 15th I believe and after that is $4 a month. I read up on it yesterday. Too bad they couldn't make it accessible worldwide.

I don't know how good the latency will be. When it was demonstrated a few months ago at a convention(can't remember which one) the server was a few miles away. If you live a few states away from the nearest server, I can't imagine it will be fast no matter how good the bandwidth is, even a 0.1 sec latency will make it unplayable.
