For those of you with the Busan public school system, here's the form you're supposed to submit, just as all the Korean teachers are, for getting the afternoons off for this semester's final exams. Although the finals run through Saturday, there are two reasons why the form only covers Thursday and Friday: 1-Saturday classes are only in the morning, and 2-the foreign teachers do not work on Saturdays anyway.

This is for Busan, but the law cited is a national law. All public schools in the country are supposed to use this form or something similar. I just don't know when the finals are for other jurisdictions so I limited the title of the thread to Busan. Make the appropriate changes for your area if you are in another province/metropolitan city or if your school's finals are on other dates.

This form is supposed to be submitted no later than the last working day prior to the time requested. Italics are for your information. You should not change the entries that are not in italics.

If your browser is not displaying the Korean characters correctly, select View -> Encoding -> Korean.

Hope this helps!

What's wrong with just showing up to work and then leave when all the other teacher leave? At least where I am, most of the teachers leave after lunch and I am encourage to leave when they leave. But then again I don't know what it's like in Busan.

What's wrong is that all the other teachers (supposedly) have completed this form. If they--and you--don't have written permission from the principal to be away from the school during regularly scheduled working hours, the time is supposed to be charged against your vacation account. The afternoons of the finals are actually regularly scheduled working hours. Submit this form and you have no worries about some zealous school inspector or accounting supervisor "correcting" the accounts.
