I'm still waiting to see one. Either I'm in the wrong place, or they're a shy, endangered species that avoids human contact.

All over Korea we are geographically spread out where you don't see many others if any on a daily basis. The only foreigner ghetto I know if is Itaewon, Seoul though I'm sure you'd probably see more people holler at in many parts of the big cities. While you typically don't go a half a world to live around all other foreigners, it would be nice to be socially connected than simply using internet. I live in a smaller city myself and don't ever see anyone, but there is said to be like 50 of us in the area. I think many teachers hang low anyhow anywhere you go.

Pohang is 500,000 people big and my town is around 150,000 so you should have about 200 foreign teachers around. Don't see any? My guess is they hang low and only go out for work and to the bar around 11 or 12 on Friday and Saturday nights. The late night Western style Korean bar popular for expats in the area is the only way to physically see others where I am. I understand why the expat scene is a late nighter one is they work late in the hagwons. Me, I'd prefer to hang out or do something at a more reasonable time such as 7pm rather than 11pm. Since that is so, I've learned to be independent in forgoing social opportunities by taking this early morning bankers hours job.

You'll probably meet some weigukin deul if you go to the supermarket
on Saturdays, especially that one near the POSCO residential area.

I used to live in Pohang and many foreigners hang out at Mindy's or Beethoven or Whistlers in the downtown area (behind/near the Post Office)

Also in E dong there are many bars like Wa Bar or Giant Step that foreigners hang out at...

There is a new foreigner run bar/grill place in Bukbu Beach/Janseong Dong that draws a decent crowd...

Yes, there are quite a few -- I-dong seems to be brimming lately -- I see a half-dozen pretty much every day whilst heading in to work -- and not the same half-dozen each day. Downtown (the "river walk," or walking street between the O-gari and Yuk-gari) on the weekends, you can find lots and lots....

Starbucks, Whistler's, Tilt, Bukbu Beach on the weekends for volleyball.....we're all over the place.
