Can anyone recommend to me a good custom suit tailor in Korea that is inexpensive (maybe 250-300 for a 3-piece)?
Anyone with good or bad experiences?
Thanks! |

that's pretty low for a good suit.
Are you of average height/build? Try the department store first, then browse Indian |

other than a bunch of guys in Itaewon, check in your area. I found a guy down my street that got me one for 280,000 and I'm a big boy |

With that kind of money you'd be much better off going to a department store or outlet store during one of their frequent sales and getting a modern-styled off-the-peg suit.
You'd probably get rubbish in Itaewon for 300,000......I paid 500,000 in Itaewon for a custom-made suit a few years ago and it was garbage. It fell apart after 1 year. |

| I have my suits made in Yeoido in the 300,000 W range and they are excellent suits. Not all 500,000+ suits are worth the money. I've been using the same tailor for almost ten years. He also makes very good cashmere winter coats in the 300,000 range. |

Tailorable makes by far the best Korean suits I've ever seen. They are a little expensive for here but a steal because of the quality. The designer has been featured in a bunch of Korean fashion magazines. His shop in Itaewon is a little hard to find so have a Korean friend call and ask for you.

The Web site has no map to get to his shop. Oh well. |

I went to JJ in Itaewon and got a bespoke suit for about 350,000 won. The fit is great but the fabric (although he said it's 100% wool) feels kind of cheap--which is true of every suit I've ever seen on a Korean man, though.
Hamilton is a little higher quality but you have to pay for it. 500k gets you a wool-polyester blend, and their 100% wool suits start at around 750k. |

Off-the-rack suits never fit quite right though, especially if they're designed for Koreans and you're not. The shoulders will be way too small. And way too many of the off-the-rack suits in Korea are made of that shiny silver fabric. |

That's why you should have suits altered to fit you after you buy them. If you buy from a major department store, they'll do it for free.

1,000 baht baby. It's worth the airfare just to go suit shopping. |
