I'm trying to put together a Canadian-themed lesson for Canada Day. (I realize Canada was yesterday but my classes are cancelled until Monday because of final exams.) Anyway, I'm trying to think of famous Canadians that Koreans would know. So far, the only one I can think of is Avril Lavigne (and that's kinda sad). Can anyone think of some others? Much appreciated.

Some people old enough to remember the 1988 Olympics may remember Ben Johnson.

A lot of my students have been writing Justin Bieber's name on their desks recently.... which may mean that he's infiltrated the peninsula. Rolling Eyes But it's another suggestion for you.

Judging by Korean students music tastes its probably a good call to say him though.

Obviously you wouldn't divulge this information outside of the classroom and stictley either deny it or plead ignorance of the fact if another westerner bought the subject up. If pressed, say he comes from the other side of the country from you and they're all a bit strange there Very Happy

Like someone said on Twitter: "Canada introduced Justin Bieber to the world. The world responded by destroying Toronto during the G20 summits. Touch, world. Touch."

Kim Yuna (well, she has probably lived there longer than Korea)
Kim Yuna's coach. They all know who he is and you can also introduce them to homosexuals as well.

Brian Orsor is Kim Yuna's coach. He's probably the best know Canadian right now. Hell Samsung is paying him and his student for their air con commercials
