Because it's a pretty serious accusation. They would probably report the same thing back home.

You're joking, right? Have you ever picked up a newspaper, magazine, book, anything? Have you ever looked at the news on the internet or tv? Do you think reporters wait until people are convicted of crimes to write about them?

What a bozo, assuming he's guilty. Last thing we need is to be surrounded with more paranoid narrow minded people stereotyping us in the most negative light.

Where was his co-teachers? I noticed in the video he worked in a public school English Zone which would have full time co-teachers assigned as mine has 2 full time Korean teachers who do their jobs. Why only 2 sixth grade boys saying this and not the whole class and other classes/students?

It's possible he wasn't liked and was simply ran off, but running was the dumbest thing to do. They will get him in another country and if he was innocent, he gave up any chance of proving it. Why this when there is already a big stir in the media during the past 3 days about sex crimes?

I'd run even if I were innocent.

I don't trust the CJS here to give me a fair trial.

I suspect this means they will tighten visa regulations up another notch.

And probably there will be even more prejudice against employing male teachers.

unfortunately i suspect that it'll allow the K-media to offload the problem onto foreigners all over again. 100 Korean men commit crimes, nobody blinks. 1 foreigner commits a crime, there is national outrage. has invariably been the pattern.

Totally. As a foreign male aka public enemy number 1 I have zero faith in recieving justice in this country.

AsiaESL, I am sorry you edited your post and I didn't respond earlier. I think you were onto something when you mentioned the cop two weeks earlier in Daegu warning teachers not even to hug the students at the same time there was all the media attention to two high-profile cases. Was this case perhaps overdetermined?

When I was replaced by a 20 yr old blonde woman at my last school one of the co-teachers happened to mention it was better to hire women because.. "it's safer". Rolling Eyes

Right, someone wrote here 2 weeks ago of the police having a meeting with FET's to tell them not to give hugs and then 2 days ago, sexual assaults became main media attention, the child molesters castration law came into effect, and then this bozo in Daegu today now puts all glaring eyes on us. That's a lot of sexual assault issues coming out all of a sudden which I find to be very odd. I don't doubt there are real sick perverts out there, but I think much more goes on that shouldn't than you will ever read in the media.

It's unfortunate to have this negativity in the air tarnishing all of us in negative light should narrow minded ignorant people stereotype us all as being potential child molesters who also assault women. I don't want to live and work in an environment where constantly I'm guilty of being a pervert until proven innocent again and again by glaring eyes full of pessimism. Now that would require a thick skin.

It is definitely all too coincidental.

Maybe to fight back we should all start bad-mouthing Korea and advise potential teachers that it is not safe to come here until they stop copying the West's child sex abuse witchhunt. Maybe it is just as well I got out when I did.

First it is a serious accusation with it appears numerous people supporting the story.

Second the accused bolted for Japan.

Still it is too bad some in the media will use this in a sensationalist matter but that is unavoidable.

Lets not blame this guys co-teachers.....

Homer, you really confound me. After reading one of your posts I never know whether I should get petty and pick apart your writing skills, agree with you, or take issue with your typical (and often ridiculous) defense-of-Korea-at-all-costs bleatings.

Once again I've been Homered.
