I'm a F2 visa holder. Do I need to notify the Immigration Office if I changed my address while living in Korea?

Yes. You need to do it within 14 days or it will go as a black mark on your record. This black mark will then disqualify from getting a F-5 visa for 3 years.

You can do it at your local gu office or town hall instead of going to immigration. You may be subject to a fine if you don't register your change of address within 2 weeks of moving.

This happened to me. I had asked them to change it while I was there for another reason. They failed to do so, I failed to check and now I have to wait an extra year for the F5. I can't remember the fine, it was under 100k though. So, yes...get it updated for sure. Pretty stupid on my part.

For what it's worth (and in case anyone finds this on a search) this is a general requirement for anyone living in Korea. That is, whether you are on an E2, F2, or even a Korean citizen, you must report a change of address to the gu office within two weeks. Be sure to bring your rental contract.

Building on that topic...My husband and I are going to America for 6 months (or possibly longer) and then back here. My F2 expires in February. I spoke with immigration and they said you only change your address if you are staying in Korea. If not, then I just go to America and when I come back, update my address. However, if I come back after February, then what? Will that be a black mark on my ID?
