I need other ideas for student busy work. I give them wordsearches,
mazes and coloring. I need other ideas. I don't need websites. I know
how to use Google really well.
I need printable things I can give the kids, elementary, that won't bust
my balls. |

Sentence finds. Hidden pictures.
Crossword puzzles. Cryptograms. Double puzzles. Fallen phrases. Letter tiles.
And other things from certain web sites I'm sure you can find on your own. |

I used to make "figgerits" (from Dell Puzzle books), tying to suit the students' level. It might take 15 minutes or so to make one. You have a sentence, say with 30 letters in it. You number the letters. You use all letters to make words (you can reuse letters from the sentence) and use these words to make clues. The answers to the clues show how many letters and these letters are numbered to correspond to their position in the sentence.
Here's a (difficult) example though it looks better than this if you print it neatly or even type:

It's hard to explain how to make them, really. Many kids enjoyed them though and teamwork is also good. |
