|

Hi everyone,
We just wanted to let people know about the new E2 regulations.
Diploma: Starting tomorrow, July 15th, original diplomas will no longer be accepted by immigration. You either need an apostilled copy or notarized copy by Korean Consulate/Embassy.
Since apostilles are not done in Canada, you will need to get a notarized copy of your diploma from your local Korean Consulate or Embassy.
Since US Korean Consulates/Embassies no longer notarize copies of diplomas, you will need to get an apostilled copy of your diploma; you can only get the apostilled copy of your diploma in the same state as your university (in most cases).
In AUS/NZ/UK/IRELAND/SA, you have the option of getting either the apostilled copy or copy notarized by KC/Embassy.
FBI Check (US): Starting January 2011, state checks will no longer be accepted from the US; you will need to have the FBI check done. Unfortunately, the FBI check usually takes 8-12 weeks, so make sure to request it in advance.
We hope this update helps. |

Hi again everyone,
Also,
Drug Test: Starting September 1st, the drug test will be re-implemented as a required part of the medical check-up during your first week in Korea; the test will check for cannabis/marijuana.
Transcripts: Starting September 1st, official sealed transcipts will no longer be required . . BUT for those teachers who will be starting in Sept or Oct, we strongly recommend still getting two official sealed transcipts just to play it safe.
We hope this helps. |

When I spoke to Immigration yesterday, I was told the changes for submitting diplomas (apostilled copy) and transcripts (no longer required) were both scheduled for 1 Sep. |

Are these new regulations for new visa holders coming from their home country, or will this include people renewing / transferring visas? |

At least they are sweetening the deal a little. Not having to get transcripts makes life easier! But one problem replaced with another!. Actually thinking about it. To have your degree verified they need to see your transcripts.

Maybe it will soon be dated but ....
So if I look at this right. Now you only need one sealed transcript instead of two or three to included messing up.
Geeze. |

Any idea if an apostilled diploma is good forever, or if we will have to keep getting a new apostilled diploma every 6 months. Guess we'll find out with time. |

So according to the information provided by the OP, immigration will only require either a notorised copy of your degree certificate or an apostilled copy. Furthermore, sealed transcripts will no longer be required. All in all a step in the right direction. However, it's still to be seen whether any of this information provided by E2 visa holders will be stored on a database somewhere or whether they'll have to keep submitting new ones every time they want to change jobs. |

so i have a diploma from the state of new york.
i dont understand how a state apostilles a copy of a diploma.
i dont think my school issues copies of a diploma. they issue official signed and sealed transcripts. they will issue new diplomas if you lose one which costs a lot and take forever.
has anyone had a diploma copy apostilled in new york?
if i take my original diploma to the US embassy in seoul will they make a copy and apostille/notarize it? |

I just took a dump.
Do I have to get the paper notarized or apostilled?
Can I still send immigration the original? |

I have my original here with me. How would I go about getting it apostilled? This is total BS. |

I'd like an answer to this too. I'll be on the second year of my current 2 year contract next semester, and I'll have to renew my visa for the second year. Do I need to submit this copy? Is my only option to get an apostilled copy in America while I'm on vacation? |
