Sighhhhhh...who knew finding a job in Korea would be MORE difficult the second time around?! Maybe I should just send them a pic of a white girl, and then when I land at Incheon jump out and yell SURPRISE!

It can't be a well known white girl, plus isn't Jessica Alba latina? I was thinking Miley Cyrus. I don't think Koreans know Miley Cyrus, right?

Plus its a shame since I'm pretty and was able to woo Koreans with my beauty the first time. Why should unfortunate looking white folk have it easy? Sad

You don't want to work for someone like that anyway. Move on. You'll find something.

I was always tempted to create a fantastic resume for some person (ivy league/ pretty/ white, religious, etc) and then apply it to some schools and recruiters. Then have some fun see how long you can string some schools along.

Actually I found it so ironic. At one school I taught they thought they had hired the perfect person. From California, White, Good University with the subject of Asian/Korean Studies and even knew Korean a bit. This was for a hagwon job... They flew him and over and the next night he was gone. Free ticket to Korea!

If you use a fake picture (as in it looks nothing like you) to get a job at a hagwon, dont be surprised if they "lose" you at the airport when you arrive and you dont have a place to work.

No worry - just make sure the ticket was prepaid.

Don't forget to photoshop the (scanned) passport photo too.

I know of a (public) school in Ilsan that only hires white women.

Blonde and busty only. No brunettes, red-heads considered.

that principal has excellent taste.... however, if he singles out only the ones with C-section scars, you know he might be a pervert in Korean culture...... MIGHT be. Wink

Actually, this happens in the US too. I had a black boss who told me not to recruit any black candidates because they are too difficult to work with. He specifically asked me to recruit more Asian-Americans especially.

unfortunately this is part of life.

I remember back in Canada I'd apply online to various restaurants. Since you have to include your photo I experimented by sending duplicate resumes, one with my picture the other one with a white girl. Only moments after submitting my resume I would get replied asking for the white girl but nobody would call me back.

There was also this other time I applied to work at this fish and chips place. The male owner flat out told me he only hire white girls.

LOL thats so funny that someone else does stuff like that too! I knew this one place (a local government job) did not want to hire any white people, so I submitted my exact resume with the name changed to sound very non-white and put a different race on the ethnicity "volunteer" form and the next day I was called for an interview. They about crapped when a white guy walked in. They accused me of being a liar, and I just kept saying I was African American and told them it is racist to assume you can tell someone's background by the color of their skin.... I should've brought in a photo of shaft and said, "look that's my pops". By the way, if they do not read those ethnicity datas that they "only collect for EOE purposes", how did they know what race I marked down? I also wonder why Koreans are so obsessed with photos. Sounds like race matters a lot more than most people want to admit. In fact, sometimes race seems to be about the only thing that matters at all.
