Hey everyone,

Going to teachers' college in the Fall, and they may or may not be demanding that I have a CRC from Korea (because I've lived here for more than 12 months... But the wording of their memo for people that have lived aboard is ambiguous and I've got an email out trying to clear that up...)

Is there a way to walk into a Korean police station and request a CRC similar to the ones we get done back home? Or do I have to wait till I get back home and go through the Consulate?

You can go to any major police station and have them pull a CRC for your time in Korea. It takes about 15-20 minutes and they will stamp it. I can't remember the cost, but it wasn't that much. Only the larger police stations do that.

Yes, you can walk in and its free. It's prob better to go to major station and not one of the little ones commonly seen around. A major station will have a foreigner division and likely someone who speaks passable English. Alternatively, you could take someone to translate, but I've always found that more frustrating than finding a way to do it myself. You fill out a short, form and they print and stamp your CRC and youre done. Maybe 10 minutes total and its 100% free. However, youll likely need an official translation, and probably have it notarized, before it will be accepted in your home country.
