I'm going home for a week this saturaday and was wondering what people think i should bring home with me, and what I should bring back (askying because i dont want to forget anything and also looking for new ideas).
Right now i'm bringing home makkoli, soju and banana milk to share w/ the people at home. I'm also bringing some solar powered keychains for gifts for friends. If anyone has any otehr gift ideas, that would be cool too.
I'm bringing back toothpaste, bodywash, shampoo, a roll of nickels (as rewards for good students, they love us currency), and some extra clothes, as a 34 waist seems just slightly too large to shop here on a budget. Might grab some taco seasoning too. |

I brought back classic Korean artwork. The paintings with the hangul writing. People were diggin' those. I found a nice shop down by MacDonalds in Itaewon. |

Bring some ginseng candy and some of the traditional wooden masks. Bring your grandmother an ajumma hat and your grandfather one of those mesh vests. |

Phone charms are kind of fun and people seem to like things like soap and candles from foreign places. They don't have to know that you bought it at the grocery store. |

Go shopping at Namdaemun for gifts. Insadong has 85% of the same merchandise, but at a higher price.
Females like those wooden jewelry cases. Students like the wooden pencil cases. Often they these wooden cases are decorated with mother of pearl. I think they're nice presents that are also practical. |

Things women request when I go back for a visit:
Lock N' Lock (Yes, I have a suitcase full of Korean tupperware.)
My mom likes the small Lock N' Lock water bottle that can fit in a purse.
Korean Ajuma socks. They're knit and I guess women like to wear them around the house in the winter months.
Lip gloss. I don't know why, but apparently the VOV brand in Korea stays on your lips longer.
I usually bring back vitamins, Tapatio, herbs, cayenne pepper, basil and cilantro seeds (It's hard to beat fresh basil from my windowsill.) and crushed red pepper. I can't eat a pizza without it. |

My students are all staring at me wondering why I'm laughing so hard. |
