|
|
I have searched for this but I can't find concrete information for my problem.
I need to withdraw some money from my UK bank card here in Korea. About a million won. I have an HSBC debit card but I have never tried using it in Seoul before. Is it possible to use this card at an ATM here? What bank would I be able to use it at if any? I really need to get the money out by Friday, so any help would be greatly appreciated! |

I cant remember the exact link but if you search on Dave's (or just use google) there are separate websites for both Visa and Mastercard branded debit cards that can locate international ATMs for you. Most, of course, are in Seoul. |

I used my natwest one yesterday to withdraw money, no problems. I just chose a random ATM machine in Anguk, entered my pin and was good to go. |

I have both Nationwide and Lloyds TSB cards....and for me it`s very hit and miss using the cards with any bank other than KEB, and especially outside the tourist areas/banking hours.
You should be ok with KEB`s Global ATM machines from my experience anyway. |

There's an international ATM at gate 6 of Gangnam station. It's around the steps and says it on the window. Same side as Burger King. |

Yep, that`s KEB.
The card will definitely work there as I have used it many times in the past.
The SC on the other side as well as the Hana and Shinhan banks in Gangnam are hit and miss...miss most of the time even though they have so called Intl ATM`s. |

usually you'll have to find a bank with an International Card sign, but they're common enough in decent sized ATM rows. I've found the best bet when you're stuck is to head to the nearest subway station.
Usually there'll be a standalone blue 365 machine, though they can be a complete pain. i've found ehwa station has 2 international machines that seem to accept a card, only when the other refuses. |
