Most definately..
Owning a plane to get to that island would be "mostly that."
Having a monkey butler to make me bananna daiquiris would be "substantially that."
A trampoline situated on the edge of a cliff so that I could jettison myself into the ocean on my island would be "pretty that."
But being alone on the island, having to pleasure myself with a dry, sandy, sunburnt hand would most definately be "non-that." |

Never get 5 months paid vacation back home. |
I don't get the five months, but I have a job that I love doing and earn the money accordingly. I agree with you all the way, drinking beer that is cheap and good, eating food that is cheap and blindingly good and getting married to, in my opinion, the most beautiful woman on earth.
That sounds like a good choice of my life. In my book anyway. |

This was your run of the mill pukorama....not very original in form or content....but quite vitriolic
Lush, some very good responses have been made to your comments concerning those who post with negative criticism on here and the responses they get.
I would agree with sparkx here. Its the sheer repetitiveness of it that gets dull and annoying.
Its also the fact that people refuse to deal with the consequences of their choices in a mature manner sometimes.
Finally da dragon hit the nail on the head concerning cultural alienation...its only alienation or missunderstanding if you do nothing to understand it.... |

Culural alienation:- most of my life, I'm totally used to it by now, its my destiny in fact. I felt culturally alienated in every country since I was 14 (the age I left Zimbabwe). If I had a family and home base somewhere, in my home country, etc, I wouldn't put up with Korea longer than a year.
Homer makes a valid point. We could (most of us) make a bigger effort to learn Korean, and understand the culture here it seems. |

| Saying Korea is not all that is like saying cheese is somewhat cheesey. I think most people come here and enjoy it for a while....anywhere from a week to two years etc., but, eventually....the bubble bursts and you find yourself choking on kimchee. And that is when you finally decide to drag yourself out of the comforts of friends and girlfriend and easy money and a somewhat easy (perhaps too easy in some respects) life...and you go somewhere else. Maybe even home. But....Korea will always be a part of you...like a woman you left behind because she confused you, enchanted you, but ultimately could not love you all the way. Sometimes just on the bright and shiney and wishful surface....so not even half the way. Korea is a conundrum. Ying and yang. Overall I've gotten more then I've given....but at the moment I've hit a losing streak and I'm eyeing up my backpack through the haze of an ocassional hangover. I'd like to see if Japan is "all that." Somehow, I think I might like it over there. |

If the best part of your job is the amount of time you get AWAY from it, then it does not really seem like the perfect career choice. I think most people view a stint in Korea as a chance to gain experience, travel and make some money. Those who stay for a long time either really love teaching or must have some problems adjusting to the 'real' world. |

It sure isn't, not even Half all that. But where is? Happy people are more apt to be happy in Korea. But maybe even some happy people would become unhappy in Korea. And unhappy people, well..... you know.
