Hi,

Apologies if this is the wrong sub-forum for this but....

my wife and I recently secured a position with GOE to work in Yangsan. The contract start date is on the 31st August, I sent over all my apostilled documents almost two weeks ago.

It seems as if the recruitment consultant is having trouble receiving our contracts and sending them back to us and I am starting to get worried....

He assures us that the education office is just really busy and our contracts are on the way but I don't want to book flights/resign from my job before I have my contracts and visa in my hand.

I can't get my visa without my contract, I am also worried that my contract is never going to come....

Can anyone allay my fears on this? What should I do, the flights are getting more and more expensive. Sad

You should be okay I'd imagine - it can be a bit hectic before you leave while the school try and figure out the Visa number and such. Plus schools can be a bit unorganized at times..."We need a teacher...for a class starting in 10 minutes time...argh!"

I guess the only thing you can do is get on to the recruiter to find out what's going on.

Not sure it matters about the price of the flights does it? Since the school should be reimbursing you/covering the cost?

Actually flight prices to Korea will drop after August 27th as for many airlines that is the end of high season.

Since you start August 31st, you could fly on the 28th and be in Korea on the 29th with two days to settle in.

No reason to panic just yet as it is only August 5th....

Why not call a travel agent and get price quotes for Aug 27th-28th?

Where are you flying from?

They are covering 1.3mill which is about 600. Thats enough for the flight but I wanted to try and find a cheap business class flight as it is such a long flight.

slightly on the side - DO NOT BUY YOUR TICKETS UNTIL YOU HAVE YOUR VISA IN HAND or at least your notice of appointment / visa confirmation number.

IF You do then do not be surprised if there are "more delays" and you end up with a flight before you complete the visa requirements and end up back here with a post saying, "help - my flight is tomorrow and I can't get my visa till next Tuesday! What can I do?"

not like this would be the first time that this has ever happened.

Update - I have the tracking number for my contract and it's in Beijing.

Hopefully it'll arrive by mid-week and then it's off to the consulate Cool
