1st time I've seen a photo come up in a post. How do you post a photo where it shows a photo instead of a link? |

The post with the photo was posted in 2003. Posting photos has since been banned because a few bad eggs were posting inappropriate photos. |

Could someone describe the visa run to Japan process?
I want to get to Korea ASAP, but a job I hope to get won't start for 2 months. Spending a month in Korea will be no problem if I can find a place to stay since I left enough money to live in the country for a month.
Anyway, I would like to essentially be a tourist for a month and then hop over to Japan to get the E2. When I got my E2 in Canada last year I had to set up an appointment and that took a week to set up. That sucked because I was under the impression I was in a hurry to get to Korea at the time I booked a flight too early without knowing I needed a set date for the visa interview. My big concern is getting to Japan and finding out I need to wait a week for that interview. Is it easy to set that up? Will they be able to speak English at the Japanese consulate office? |

Previous E2 and you don't need the appointment and interview.
Drop your passport, application, fee, photo and number at the consulate in the afternoon and pick it up the next day.
Visa run information (specifics) is in the sticky or in the travel forum.

Yes! A snow ball's chance in Hell! (sorry, couldn't resist)
Actually, I think it would depend on how they hire you. By that I mean if they think they are hiring you "already in Korea", they may only want to pay you some predetermined Japan visa run or relocation expense payment(like I got on my 3rd contract), but it's much less than what you would get coming from your home country(like USA in my case).
Now if they were willing to reimburse you as if you were coming from your home country, they would still only pay you for one round trip, half at the beginning of your contract, and the other half upon completion. Your scenario would call for one more additional trip(unless you plan on staying in Korea for ever). And that is where the snow ball comes into play. |

See, I'd like to stay in Korea "forever"... hell I wanted to do medical school here at SNU, but... SNU is not returning phone calls... I guess I should look around now since I DO have a return ticket on the 9th of Sept, to get all this done as long as I get a job here.
I think it's annoying as hell that I have to get an E-2 visa simply just to stay here. |

Well, I read your other post. Can't you just keep renewing your tourist visa by leaving the country and coming back? At least a couple times? Or until the cash reserves start running low? Just a thought. |
