I would like a few foreigners living in Korea to answer some questions for me regarding IF you have been to a dentist in Korea.

(1) As a foreign patient at the dentist in Korea, how was the dentists medical service? Would you recommend the dentist to your friends/colleagues? What's the reason for that?

(2) Compared to dentist medical service of your homeland, what is the advantage of the dentist you went to in Korea?

(3) If something made you feel uncomfortable or unpleasant at the dentist clinic you went to, could you explain what it was?

Thanks to everyone who answers the questions.

Yes, I have been to the dentist in Korea.

The level of treatment and care was comparable to home.

The cost was substantially lower than at home.

Root canal, post, fill and crown for 500k and
veneers for 100k each.

.

The cost was way lower in Korea.

That being said, she was better than some dentists back home, but my dentist for the last few years back home was superb, and I've never meet anyone better.

They're like mechanics. You have to find a trustworthy one.

quality (of the one I've used) about the same. Price was better in Korea.

I've had one who was a crook and his clinic was a dive.

The one I go to now is tops.

Both places had extremely unprofessional nurses/hygienists/assistants (what ever their job is), but they are always cute, so they get a free pass. The ones at my dermatologist are even worse. Is it really correct to flirt with a patient? And who wants to flirt with a dude with bad skin in the first place?

The girls at the clinic I go to are pretty professional. They can be cute but they definitely know what they are doing and talking about.

In the US when I had a root canal, it was done in one day and I was gassed and hopped up on drugs and novacaine. Total bill was somewhere in the ballpark of $1000 US.

In Korea I had a root canal, it was spread out over a month, used little anisthetic (including a newer method of putting the anisthetic directly on the pulp which gets rid of all numbness and that puffy cheek feeling afterward). There was slight pain at a couple appointments, but the total bill including crown was $400 US.

The best dentist I've ever been to was in Korea......but then, so was the worst!!

They vary. Some have been trained in western countries and practice very patient-centered, pain-free dentistry........others seem to be still doing it the way I imagine it used to be done in the 50's.

It seems there's better than home and even worse than at home. But the treatment for people who actually take good care of their teeth is better in Korea, since they're sick of seeing horrible soju/cigarette mouths most of the time anyways.

Took the whole family today.
New clinic opened near our house. Very nice relaxed atmosphere, (especially good for the kids).

Computer screen at every chair so you can clearly see your own x-ray. I only needed a bit of resin stuff, otherwise pretty much OK.

My wife needs more than one root canal though, arrrgh!

I've been going to the same dentist here in Korea for 10 years...and he's the BEST!

I've had a lot of major work done (I've had problems since age 4 so I know what I'm talking about!) with him and he'd never push me to do something that I really don't need.

Recently had 2 crowns with posts and root canals (BTW root canals are covered by insurance...don't let them tell you otherwise!) and it was less than $1000 US.

It would have been that EACH in the States!

If you're in/near Cheonan, PM me and I'll give you his name and location.

The quality of the service here is about the same.
What makes the difference though is that it is prompt and cheaper.

My wife's family lives in Cheonan. I'd like some information on this dentist but I can't PM yet. My email is my username at comcast dot net. Can you email me?

I PMd you!

Oh, forgot to say: He's open from 10 am to 7 pm. 1pm to 2 pm is lunch time and he doesn't work Thursday mornings, so from 2 to 7 on Thursday. He's open on Saturday...I THINK 10 to 4 with no lunch...but maybe 10 to 2 or 3...
