Hello, My girlfriend and I have just graduated from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and we are considering moving abroad to teach english in Korea. I found a posting at this website for the hogwon isponge english located in Daegu. They promptly responded to us, and we have a phone interview set up for tonight. I am not a foolish consumer nor am I about to make a jump into something unless I am absolutely certain we can handle it as a couple and that the contract will be mostly adhered to. I also understand that while searching about a program like isponge, I will be finding a range of opinions about the school. This is the nature of it being a chain and having different management/directors. I have also found that although the school says I will be able to speak to the native english speakers there, do not expect honest answers. This is obviously because they will be sitting next to their directors, or the fact that they are nearing the end of their contracts and do not wish to make any mistakes in the final months. I know this post seems overly cynical, but I am not about to leave this country until I have done substantial levels of research. Thank you very much for your help and considerations in assisting me with finding a job in Korea.

You and your girlfriend have the right attitudes! Unfortunately, I've got no answer for you about that school in Daegu. Maybe try this site that rates hagwons: http://www.reliableteacher.com. But in the end, it's about what feels right for the both of you.
Good luck you two! |
