I'm wondering what kind of visa you would have to get to work in a Korean company. I mean like dealing with foreign customers and just checking the websites, basically like doing whatever is needed to be done. I recently got offered a job as I can speak korean so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Look on the immigration/embassy Websites for translation jobs. You could also look into tour groups within Korea, or something that should offer translation but doesn't... I hope you find something!

Good luck!

I am NOT korean and I don't have any korean ancestry. I'm a Canadian citizen but I can speak korean, I have my proficiency exam certificate to prove it. And I was already offered a job but I'm just trying to find out if I should accept it, and if i need to get my degree sent here since this job is only part time. What kind of visa would I need for this job?

Hi there, I'm a white Canadian but with decent Korean speaking ability. I wonder, how did you get your Korean proficiency certificate? I have not heard of this but am definitely interested. Thanks!

No, you have to take the TOPIK test.
It's offered twice or three times a year.
You can take it anytime.
I didn't take any university courses I just did at home study and I got it.
I think the website is www.topik.or.kr

E7, I think. And they're good, I think, for at least 2 years.

E-7 is good for one year. then you can renew it twice. when you are three years with the same company you can apply for permanent residency.

E-7 is for governmental institutions and companies. hyundai hired foreigners under E-7 and the chambers of commerce also hire under E-7.

it depends on the job really (as not everybody is eligible to get it. from what i understand you will have to have a certain ability in order to get it.)

the company which offered you the job should take care of your visa tho. as only they can apply for a visa number and therefore what visa to apply for.

you, as a private person, arent able to apply for a working visa. you cant even go to the immigration alone to hand in the papers. one official representative must do that.

that's really interesting to hear. do you have a source you could provide for that information or have any other details about it?

OP, the others are right that you'll probably need an E-7 visa. the requirements are usually 2 years of related experience or a related graduate degree, but this can change depending on how influential the company you will be working for is and how good of an argument they can make on your behalf to immigration. you should definitely have your company look into the E-7 for you since you cannot apply for it on your own anyway (as others have mentioned) and the qualifying process for that visa can be particularly confusing.

I checked the immi website and it says e-7 is for when you are doing something special though. I'm just going to be working part time and basically doing errands in english.
I was wondering if the e-9 is possible to get.

Do you mean Standard TOPIK or Business TOPIK?

What level did you get? (If you don't mind me asking...)

The E-7 is often just the fallback visa for people doing something other than teaching or studying, and is what people working in companies usually get, whether they truly are performing a "special" role in their company or not. Since you would be working part-time, however, and only taking on miscellaneous administrative duties (more or less), another visa type might be possible (though I don't know what it would be). I really suggest you have your company call immigration - or call them yourself - to find out which visa would be best given your unique circumstances.

By the way, would you only be working for the company in question or doing other things as well while in Korea? (You could have a greater or fewer number of options depending on the answer to this question...) Also, do you know if you would be eligible for an H-1 (working holiday) visa as a Canadian?
