The Korean Council for University Education (KCUE) can do it for you! I've just spoken to a very nice English-speaking guy who works there. The process sounds delightfully simple.

1. Your employer has to contact them. Show your boss their Korean website. (http://www.kcue.or.kr/)

2. Your employer then sends your degree to them, with an application for verification.

3. They will check that your degree is valid by contacting your university.

4. Once they receive confirmation that your degree is valid, they'll attach some document to it WHICH IMMIGRATION WILL ACCEPT AS PROOF OF A REAL DEGREE.

I was told that the whole process usually takes up to or longer than four weeks. Anyone who needs to go to immigration before the end of the year had better start moving soon.

Their English website is here. http://english.kcue.or.kr/sub_new_03_1.html.

Their English service telephone number is 02 6393 5225.

I have heard from several different answers from from different sources including immigration. Can Americans use this? I have heard they can, from both friends and immi, and I have heard that Americans need an apostilled diploma from the US from both friends and immi. However, the new regs seem to becoming for clarified and I am hearing more that Americans can use this service. Can anyone clarify this?

Great information! I'll definitely ask my school to do this. I'm assuming we only have to have our degrees "authenticated" once?

My company has stated that KCUE has refused their requests for degree verification. Why might they do that?

NO.

a) Apostille,
b) K-consulate certification or
c) KCUE certification

will be required for anyone who as not previously done A, B or C (as in, "You used your original degree when you got your visa"),
