| I had LASEK surgery done at the Gangnam clinic in January 2009. It was quick and painless though the recovery time did take a while. My sight was blurred for a few months but during that time my eyes would focus into clarirty and it was fantastic. For my (excellent) sight to stabilise, it took about 9 months. I can't complain about the results now - I can basically see everything whereas before, I couldn't see the biggest letter on the eyechart. And at 1.7 million won - you aren't getting better value for money anywhere. |

Not sure Steve but it was pretty crap and now I have excellent eyesight. If the centre have put you through the two hour of tests then you are good to go. I got the subway back to my apartment on the Yongin/Bundang border from Gangnam and I was OK for seeing everything, your sight is going to blurred with the 3rd day being the worst) but you can still see a lot better than you did before. The very nice surgeon (Dr Lee - top man!) will insist on you wearing sunglasses and I had to right up to the 7th month. A long process but worth it. |

thanks for the tips i appreciate the time. Just not what i was looking to hear...7 months is a long time to be constantly sensitive to light ...i'm hoping your eyes were really bad and you're over 30, as i know that has a lot to do with the healing process. Knowing my luck though you're 100% right and this is going to suck. |

Yeah, I am over 30 hahahaha! LASEK takes time but is more durable than LASIK. I didn't wear my shades all that much after the third month. Its a time consuming process after the 30 second operation but you won't regret it - wait and see! |

lol sorry didn't mean to make u think about the ol age there but there's a lot of times u read posts from people well into their 40's with like -8 and -9 vision...horrible astigmatisms and myopia and complaining about the length of time it took to recover. After all the research i've done, this surgery as related to recovery time is very circumstantial. I really do appreciate your input though and words of encouragement. Just 7 months is a really long time...at this point of my life i don't have 7 months to spare with average vision, i'd rather wear contacts and still get to play ball hockey all fall and be able to see the puck. u know what i'm saying |

Well Steve, if time really is the essence then go for the LASIK operation - that has a recovery time of a week or something like that - LASIK is popular with Koreans as they can be back at work straight after the operation but what the surgeon told me was that any (major) bangs on the head can mess up the surgery. Have a chat with them and see what they say. |

got lasek done at dream center myungdong.
i was -5 when i started.. and tho i have a HUGE improvement i still knew i wasnt seeing 20/20. i knew it wasnt as good as it was when i wore contacts.
but i got over it..
now that im back in the states. it is very frustrating to drive at night. all the lights have extra glare and it gets harder to read the signs cuz of all the reflection happening.
i am considering gettin my lasek redone when i visit korea again...
im reading some of u guys took 7-9 months to fully recover?? ...i think i did mine in march. anyone else having problems lik me?? has anyone redone their surgery at dream center??
please let me kno! : ) |

Nobody at the dream eye centre wore glasses, most had had lasek or lasik.
To me it was not a cosmetic operation, traveling, sports and life in general has been made easier.
I am right into contact sports and multi day hikes.
traveling, at the end of the day I no longer need to worry about washing hands to take contacts out |
Blackjack, most of the surgeons didn't wear glasses and had Lasik/Lasek at Gangnam Dream Eye Center? If it's true then that's very reassuring for me cuz this is something that I've really been considering. |

For anyone that knows, is there any difference between the Dream Center in Myeongdong and the one in Gangnam?
Also, to got_suz if you're still around, did your vision ever stabilize/improve? |

| Went to the Dream Eye in Gangnam not too long ago and 2 out of the 5 doctors had LASEK done themselves. |

It is going to cost 1.7 million won at the 'dream eye centre' in Gangdam - a favourite of the stars in this country.
I'll let you know how it goes as I know a few people on here have enquired about having a LASEK/LASIK operation in this country. Wish me luck! |

That is what they tell you. I'm sure it makes good business to say that you have done the surgery yourself. It makes the sale much easier.
I wouldn't trust the people at the DE Gangnam center. |
