Well, what do you think?

Do you think there's a real possibility that one day North and South Korea might actually go to war?

Never. Both sides have way too much to lose. Back in the day both sides were dirt poor and there was a power vacuum, so it was ripe for war. Now it will be nothing but destruction. Unification will happen before a war is able to start.

We gotta go SOMEWHERE after we're done with Iran, and there are only a handful of other countries with WMDs.

No, they won't. They might have little scraps from time to time but they'll not go to war.

NK as far a I can tell from reading, or seeing, has a small army. Some may "say" NK is militarily powerful, but where is the evidence, the data, the photos? NK will stagger on and keep SK in a state of suspended animation for decades.

That's true, the war party/machine needs some fresh meat. And we don't know for sure that NK has nukes. They could still be ripe for the picking. Think of all the new infrastructure projects Hyundai Heavy etc would get in NK after the war. thousands of projects and they would likely not allow foreign bidders.

Oh, the chaebol foam at the mouth at the prospect. They haven't built anything there since the 1970s. It is dark at night, they have no money or power.

Attack at dawn!!!!!!!!

I have been thinking along the same lines - and I now believe that their "Air Force" is so dilapidated that it is not a threat either.

Oh, there would likely be a lot of destruction and casualties straight away, but in very short order there wouldnt be much left of the whole North, much less the border area as the UN forces would make short work out of anything of value within hours.

It wouldn't be pretty for me if that happened in the next two weeks, either, as my wife's sister lives in Paju, and we are going there!

That would not be a good place to be if something happened!

NK actually has one of the largest standing armies in the world, they are so malnourished and under-equipped that they have defectors all the time. Moral is very low too. NK knows it will get utterly destroyed and occupied if it starts a war. The South know that Seoul will get hit hard and thousands will die in initial artillery strikes, so they won't provoke either. Like the previous person said, there will be skirmishes and little attacks(cheonan for example) but nothing major to leave the country over

its not about north and south,.., its about china , russia or usa getting the land..
if North Korea sells out to CHina , china will swallow up the north and it will be gone for ever!!! china will NEVER give the land to the south...

if Russia steps in and decides to buy North Korea.. then its possible Russia will sell the country back to South Korea one day.. FOR an obscene amount of money...

if south want to lead an invasion and take the north.. maybe China and russia will sit back and say, ok fair enough.. this war is between you guys..
just don't get us involved or shite will hit the fan!

but of course a south lead invasion will be joined by the USA so the NOrth also needs to call him big brother to help.. so north Korea or russia might fight for a ownership of the land!
that land is priceless becuase SOuth Korea will sell its mother for that land..

there will be blood in North and south Korea one day...
to much money at stake.. and a peace resolution will mean no real money for certain special interest groups.. and they aint gonna let that happen.

have an exit plan boys.. one day bombs will fly!

Nobody wants NK except the Koreans.

China needs to solve it's own ethnic issues and with Taiwan before even thinking about taking over NK. As long as the Koreans know who the economic boss is, they'll leave Korea to the Koreans, as they historically have done. And no way China would let a non-Asian power like Russia intrude more into their sphere of influence.

Could you explain what you mean by too much money?

And SK is literally 'cut off' from the rest of the world out on the peninsula. This is one reason why NK is so important to them. Others?

War has caused unrest among the younger generation. Destruction of men in their prime, who's average age was nineteen. When two tribes go to war, a point is all you can score.

Friend only to the undertaker.
