im guessing Kim lost interest! she won it all and thinks she is the bees knees , probably lost respect for Brian, she couldn't be pushed anymore and would get frustrated as he is out to win!
he sees potential in japan.. so he is like.. WHATEVER, laters.. |

I hope to see Kim lose at her next competition. Her or her mother (or both) have let it go to her head.
The student never surpasses the teacher.

Some of you guys seem pretty harsh on her. Successful coaches and athletes part ways all the time. Nothing new or shocking here. Her mother just didn't do a good job keeping it all positive in the media.
Anyways, Kim Yuna's motivation is all gone, it's over for her now. She has an Olympic gold medal and a couple of World Championships in her bag. On top of that she has enough money to last her a lifetime, that is if her mother hasn't squandered it yet. No motivation what so ever.
If I were in her position, I'd finish university and get a degree. Then work as some 'consultant' for up-and-coming athletes and live a very quiet provincial life back in Gunpo, her hometown.
Also, am a bit surprised that Kwak girl also dropped him as a coach. I think her and Kim are pretty close friends. I'd figured she would have been next in line for a gold medal and Orser would have been a good coach for her. Not sure of her prospects now.

You may be right. It looks like Orser didn't quit. He was let go. I pulled this off a Canadian news site.
Quote: |
In a statement released Tuesday, Orser's management agency, IMG, said Kim's mother told Orser on Aug. 2 that "he would no longer be retained" as coach.
According to IMG, "no reason was given for the sudden and unexpected decision."
Kim's mother may have been heavily involved in the decision, as she has taken over as her daughter's agent and seems to be "running the store."
|
A sudden and unexpectedly firing without giving a reason. The Ajumma canned Orser like he was teaching her kid a private.

Immediately after winning the Olympic Gold, Kim Yuna said she was thinking about retiring. It isn't like this is a surprise. Orser probably got fed up trying to keep Kim yuna's professional skating career ahead of her celebrity career in Korea.
Kim Yuna has the gold medal, world records, and world championships. I'm sure she would rather sing songs, act in Korean dramas/Movies, and be a celebrity instead of an athlete.
I think it is good for both of them to split. Orser can go on and train an athlete that is 100% dedicated to figure skating, and Kim Yuna can continue to be the super celebrity in Korea. |

The title of this thread is incorrect. He didn't quit. He was fired.
Ha, ha! It looks like he's going over to Japan. That's what you call revenge with class. |

The thread title was based upon the original Yonhap article that reported Orser as saying he would no longer coach her and that the agency accepted his decision. They made it appear as though he quit. But in fact her mother fired him. I don't think a title can be edited.
Perhaps the mods can change it to Brain Orser Fired. Is it possible? |

Now if only he goes to Japan, trains that one chick and he wins the gold in the next Winter Olympics, Yuna getting the silver. |
