Apple says that the warranty is void outside of the country of purchase. They may have fixed it, but they were wrong. Good for you, though!

Really? I've used my Apple care in Canada and Korea without issue. Though I've generally found that Apple is concerned enough about PR that they make a lot of these things non-issues.

Before I left for Korea I called Apple Care and asked it it was covered in Korea and they said that it is and the guy even looked up places to get things fixed. I have not tried to have anything fixed, so I don't know if the guy just did not understand my questions, or if they really do cover things outside of the US.

Apple Care is international. I have taken 2 different macbooks from Canada to 2 different service providers in Korea (a# in COEX and apple store in Yongsan) and both times received quality, free service, repair and parts all at no charge.

I've spoken with the people at Apple. They say that hardware isn't covered internationally. I called a bunch of times. This doesn't change the fact that many people can and do get things repaired. I did it at home because I've got friends at the store near my old apartment, and they hooked a girl up!

Interesting. I've spoken with plenty of Apple employees and they seem to have their facts wrong. I'll be calling later to discuss this with them. Thanks for the link!

I talked to a guy on the phone and he is saying my laptop isnt under warranty, even though I purchased a 3 year applecare (which would be ending this September, ironically). He wants my applecare Reg ID, but man, that was 3 years ago, and even if I kept the paperwork it would be back in the US...somewhere. *sigh*

On another note, this store closes at 6 so I can't even go today, since itll take me about 2 hours to get there. *sigh* I'm pretty sure the video card got fried, so I might just try the local computer places and see if they can take a look. If not, I ditch half a day of work tomorrow Razz

What type of mac is it? My video card started to act up a couple weeks ago. It turned out that certain MacBook Pros had issues and that that they were to be fixed for free, regardless of warranty.

Check here.

1. Click on the apple.
2. About this mac.
3. More info
4. Enter your Serial Number (system) here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

This will tell you if you are still covered.

My laptop was in that ranged of faulty Nvidia cards, but I didnt need to bring it up they were already repairing it for free. Turns out that in the US, the warranty on the mainboard is 1 year, but in Korea it's 3 years. Since I was able to prove my residency or whatever with my ARC card, I got the 3 year warranty Twisted Evil

Any idea if any of the repairs centers in Seoul are open on Saturdays? My Korean bought Macbook's power cord isn't wanting to work.

Also, which one is easiest to access from the subway in either the southern or central part of the city.

Thanks.

I figured that I would answer my own question in case someone searches for this same information later.

The Frisbee store in Hongdae (Close to Hongik Station, exit 9 I believe) has an authorized service desk open on Saturdays from 2-7pm.

There is a very basic map at this address...http://www.frisbeekorea.com/download/eng-frisbee.jpg
