|

So a few of the teachers at my school have mentioned that my school will be audited next year. They said this is a regular event that happens every few years but that the school will face more scrutiny next year and it's important to have all our documents in order.
I may or may not be at this school next year, but I'd like to be prepared in case I am, and in order to not cause problems for my current coworkers.
Has anyone gone through this process? I'm assuming they're going to want to see attendance sheets and lesson plans. Anything else?
In my experience it's best to have too many documents. If everything looks in order chances are they'll just give them a glance. |

I've been through umpteen official school audits & never once was there even the least interest in my class records.
They're looking at admin accounting & official document-keeping. Carry on as normal. |

Public school? I've been there. The school will make old forests groan at how much paper they pile on the tables in the main office. The big brass will come to inspect it (I'm not sure how thorough they are). They will wander in and out of random classrooms, including yours, stand there for a few seconds, then go to the next room. Don't worry. |

I've been thru several, the teachers act very serious, the principal acts a little nervous and everyone walks around on eggshells for a couple of hours. The students clean big time for a day or two in advance. The big shot walks around, might wander in your class for a few minutes, usually for not more than 10 minutes or so. At the end of the day, the big shot goes out to eat with all the teachers and all is happiness. It's a formality more than anything, unless the school is REALLY screwed up. But I doubt that happens very often. Most of the big shots are on first name basis with the principal's so I imagine it's rare for heads to roll. |

Doesn't sound too bad. I think we've had one-day audits before. I was told when these were going to take place and once had a very friendly woman from the MOE pop into my room for a few minutes.
My coworkers are saying this is some sort of year-long process that each school goes through every few years. I think I'll go ahead and put my old attendance sheets, lesson plans, and worksheets in a nice binder with a fancy label. |

All public and public-private schools are audited every 3 to 5 years. They won't care about the foreign teacher, since we don't have any financial say over school finances. I've seen one audit, and what the above posters mentioned is mostly true. However the actual time that auditors spend 'looking' over the books shouldn't be more than 3-5 days. At the end of it all there is a big boozefest. That is unless your school administrators are totally incompetent and the auditors decide to they are corrupt and continue an investigation. |
