What is the best teaching certificate?

I have a few questions about teaching certificates. If you've never taught ESL and you get a teaching certificate (such as TESOL or TEFL), how much can your pay be increased in Korea?

I've also seen different places to get some of these certifications. I've found that if you take the course online the cost is significantly cheaper. Is this any less reputable than a classroom based certification?
