Hey- Does anyone live here or has ever been to this area? I just moved here recently and cannot seem to find much here. Other than paris Bageutte, there doesn't seem to be any area where there are a lot of places to eat, or any areas where there are a few bars within walking distance...

Any suggestions about this area???? (Other than travel to downtown) Haha. Thanks!

I'm going to assume you mean Bongdeok-dong, which is right between Camp Henry and Camp Walker? If so, it's not like you are far from downtown. You're also pretty close to the Suseong Lake area, which has some decent restaurants and such. But no, there isn't much in Bongdeok-dong itself. Hami Mami's is the only western food place I know of in that area.

What exactly are you interested in?

There's Korean food everywhere, they have a galbi street across from hotel, fancy restaurants are by Suseong Lake (less than 5000 cab ride), Western fare is downtown (3000-4000 by cab). You can hike to Apsan Park or 5 min by cab. For gym, the best place is Home Spa World.

The key advantage of the neighbourhood is its location, but there's not much to do there.

If you live where I think you live, then getting to Yeungnam University Hospital Junction should be quite easy. There is a pizza hut, dunkin donuts, baskin robbins and a subway sandwiches over there.

As far as bars go (if you're wanting to meet English speakers), downtown and the Kyungpook University area are where you must go.

The good points about living in Bongdeok-dong:

1. Subway Sandwiches, South Street, Hami Mamis.

2. Adjacency to the US bases (but only if you have a base pass or a friend who can bring stuff from post, ie. Taco Bell, stuff from the PX, etc...)

3. English-speaking services by Camp Walker (cellphone sales, hair salons, etc...)

4. Only 10 min subway to downtown (or less than 3000-4000 won taxi ride if coming back home late).

Biggest downside is that there is no big shopping mart in the area, like Home Plus or Emart. Closest is the Home Plus in Daemyeong-dong, a couple of stops west of Yeungnam Uni Hospital Stn. Daemyeong (south of Apsan Intersection) has also become a hip cafe district worth visiting.
