Just bought a new Korean laptop (Averatec). It works fine, except for two problems:

A. I can't figure out how to get Windows 7 to display in English. The help facility says:

"1.Open Region and Language by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Region and Language.

2.Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.

3.Under Display language, choose a language from the list, and then click OK."

Problem is, when I click Start then go to something that looks most like Control Panel, which has a choice that looks something like "Clock, Language and Region," it seems to break down into something like "Clock and Region," and the other doesn't seem to handle Language. I've combed the whole thing but good for drop-down menus and can't seem to find any that would show my Windows 7 screens in English.

---

B. I need to get Microsoft Office, but Amazon and Microsoft won't ship from their US offices to Korea, and I'm concerned that if I buy it locally it will only be installable through understanding Korean configuration prompts and choices. Is this founded, or would solving problem A above take care of it?

Can anyone help with either of these? Thanks very much in advance!

http://www.froggie.sk/

Go here, download the program and language pack. It works as I've used it myself.

Don't buy Office, download it.

YES!!! The program worked COMPLETELY! Can't thank you enough.

Now... what about downloading Office? Does anyone have a link for that? (I found one yesterday, but it didn't acceptany of my credit cards, and the C.C. company said no purchases had been attempted.

THANKS AGAIN!!!

You can download (legal) versions from Microsoft,
you can buy it from the Microsoft store at Yongsan (in the terminal building)
or you can get a pirated copy from torrents
or many places in Yongsan will burn you a copy for a small charge (ask at the shop that sold you the computer).

Unfortunately Microsoft doesn't seem to have downloads right now. I could get it somewhere here in Jeonju (at an electronics or computer store?), but could I install it understanding no Korean prompts? Would prefer to just download it, but does anyone have a URL, including a detailed Microsoft one?

The menus will be in the language that your system is set for.

The shop that sold you the computer will probably be able to burn a pirate version for you. If they can't/won't (did you buy it at a computer shop or a place like hi-mart/home-plus, etc)?

Your neighborhood computer shop will do it for you for a small fee.

just google "torrent and MS office".

I assume you are computer savvy enough to use torrents to download and burn a disc.
