Interesting use of the word "support"...

It might also be worth noting that Sony has already been able to detect and ban users of this mod from the Play Station Network. Bad news for anyone who likes to play online.

Seems a bit odd that you'd need a special dongle. I'd assume it's just a bootable usb drive. Wonder if the files will show up online.

As far as I can tell it's a modchip (not a USB drive) in the shape of a USB drive and fits into a USB slot.

Yes. Seems a bit similar to the swapdisk method that was used with the PS2 to play "backups".

I went to Yongsan today and most of the guys there didn't know about this yet. The one who did guessed that they wont have them until november. I find this sort of surprising since you can make your own without that much effort...you just need to buy the right chip (teeney 2 or some other ones that are also compatible)

Do you think this is good for their buisness or not? I imagine that it must affect them in a pretty negative way sonce they wont sell nearly as many full priced games. Then again, for people who don't know how to make backups on their own, they'll make a killing.

Some vids of people hacking their PS3s using a palm pre, a nokia n900 and a graphic calculator (?!). Though apparently the latest firmware update breaks the hack.

Now you can use your HTC desire or nexus one to hack your Ps3.

You need to root your phone and install a custom rom.

Please keep us posted if anyone finds a place to buy the USB chips need to install the Jailbreak software. A regular USB memory drive won't work and I don't have a smartphone.

I've found some sites selling them, but they are all out of the country.

Bought a psjailbreak on thursday this week at yongsan. It's pretty great. Can download games and send them to the ps3 through your computer.

Be careful though... The guy ripped me off at first. He sold me a homemade jailbreak for 120,000 claiming it was a genuine psjailbreak and it wasnt. After a bit of research, I returned it to him and he gave me the real deal. In actuality, they are the same, but I dont want to pay 120 for something he paid about 10,000 to make.

Anyone have some games I can borrow to make backups?

That's cool, but there's no way I'm dishing out 120K a 5k circuit board. I think I can hold out for some cheap clones.

But thanks for the info!

Usually shop through a site called dealextreme. Clicked on a link from there www.volumerates.com. They had the ps3 hack for something like $25 + free shipping.

Looks like a great site. If anyone has the b@lls to try it and it works, let me know. I have a buddy who has PS3 so it would be great for him.

Both of those sites look interesting. I like the free shipping, though I'd prefer someplace in Korea as it would be much quicker.

So for those of you who have done this, is anyone playing downloaded games?

If so did you buy another internal HDD? It seems like a better option than to buy a bluray writer.

If you can pick up for example a 500gb 2.5" HDD and play that way I'd definitely consider getting one.

That's the idea Feah. You can put the games onto the HDD and play straight off of it.
