Ok...I know it's a long one...but if you stick through it and manage to write something I would be so grateful!

I have been in Korea for around 3 months and am trying to stay here as an English teacher.

I applied for an E2 visa back in my home country. I had a stalker who emailed the Korean consulate and embassy saying that he's an "investigations bureau (doesn't exist), that I am under investigation by police, on medication for ADHD etc. The email was forwarded to the school and my visa was cancelled.

I received another job offer, sent in my documents, my application for E2 was rejected. The co-teacher at this school pleaded with the principal that I was innocent, but I was still rejected.

I was advised by a recruiter to come to Korea to have in person interviews - that I would have a better chance of convincing an employer that I was okay. So I came to SK on a tourist visa and looked for work. I worked a summer camp on a C4 visa and had no issues in getting that visa.

I went to SUWON immigration office while I was here. They were very familiar with my case. The advice from the English-speaking desk employee was to submit a health check with my next E2 application, along with any police correspondence, explain to the school my full story and have them appeal to immigration - that would be my best bet.

However, I visited the SEOUL immigration office the other day, and was told that there was no record of me ever applying for an E2 visa on their system. I was told by a friend that this is because the information between offices and even between employees is inconsistent.

Should I explain my situation in every job interview, in light of the full story making it difficult to score a job, or not? What are the chances that my history will come up if I don't mention it?

My C4 visa runs out on the 20th of this month. My plan is to find a job that starts in November to leave enough time for the education verification service from the Korean Council for University Education and the visa process. I'll be waiting outside the country.

What if my E2 is rejected?

I went to an interview at a school last week, who told me that the reason my second E2 was rejected was because of a KOREAN police check the school did after submitting the E2 application, and that because my E2 has been rejected before, it is likely to have left an unclean record, and will get rejected again.

What is this? Is this something specific to the school?

Please help me, I'm innocent in all of this! Crying or Very sad

Who was the stalker? Someone back home? Or a Korean in Korea?

A guy I befriended for a couple of months back home. He invited me away for a Valentine's weekend and I didn't feel comfortable - he started calling me all the time, emailing, demanding I see him, turning up to my house uninvited, then he did this.

If you're ok with the Seoul office, then apply for a job there. Or in another city.

How did he get all your personal info? School info, ect...Valentine's Day was 7 months ago. Obviously you're still in contact with this person.

There's more to this story than your letting us in on... Wink

We were friends for a couple of months in December and January. He got the school info because we had mutual friends on Facebook, so by the time I blocked him, he either used their facebook to read my wall, or heard about it through them.

Before Valentine's day was the last time I saw him willingly in person. I was told not to respond or reply to him by the police as I was going to get an AVO (apprehended violence order) against him and part of that is not to keep contacting them, even if they contact you. I thought I was rid of him after ignoring him for several weeks, but then he sent the email pretending to be the "investigations bureau". I knew it was him as soon as my recruiter forwarded me the email. It was obvious it was him because of the way it was written, and the comments about me rejecting friends (which really had nothing to do with anything except for him).

He is now under investigation by the police in my country for fraud. There is evidence that ties the email to him but I shouldn't mention it here. Unfortunately I couldn't do him for defamation because a civil case costs too much upfront.

Sorry I left out a lot of this information because when my original post was up no one was replying, so I decided to shorten it to the point!

I spoke to a friend who said that information is inconsistent not only from office to office, but employee to employee...so even if that one person on that day in Seoul said I would be ok...it's not necessarily true. So there is still a chance that I am taking...I don't know if I'm ok with Seoul.

My worry is whether to tell the employer upfront or not, considering they might find out later and freak. On the other hand I could tell them everything upfront and have them freak out straight away like I've had two employers do so far. They don't want any hassles with immigration and the last school said that my record would be unclean with Korean police because of this. I have no idea what Korean police has to do with immigration or my next application for E2, which is what I'm trying to find out.

Sorry to hear about your situation, OP. He sounds like a grade-A loser.

Let this be a warning to the other friendly ladies out there. If you don't like a guy, don't try to be nice and be his friend. You'll save yourself a whole lot of trouble and unwanted attention from a potential loser/creeper.

Hope it all works out for you OP, and good luck!

Lord, Facebook. One's mugshot, name, and associates. Available for good or ill to anyone. I'm sorry, OP, to hear about your people problem, best of luck. You've made it evidently clear that you're a normal sort communicating to share life's joys but some nutter butted in. Still, IMO, Facebook is suspect in itself. Putting people's info accessible on shelves, really!
