Yes, I dated one for two months. Actually, I met her on the plane here, and she was returning from a trip to Toronto. I didn't find out until after the first month that she worked at a hostess bar, and even then she claimed she was only the "cashier" (sure). She was actually really cool, and an excellent introduction to Korea for me. I'll always be grateful to Korean Air for the fine seat selection.

I'm married now, so this is an old story.

If they're working part time while studying, they're usually pretty normal. If it's their profession, then whoa, watch out.... or giddy up....

Watch out for these women if you be a man. They will work you up and come on to you, but are mostly just teases after your money and. . .
sometimes may rip you off. And watch out for them if they want to come to your house. And, keep a low profile if there's a pimp coming around. And don't be an American soldier who got so pissed he strangled one. No, keep entirely away.

I know of a few teachers who have been ripped off on the "hill" in Itaewon. While the girl is doing her thing to the guy, she is also removing money from his wallet! And I don't mean for services rendered either! They were paid up front. These teachers were "pre-occupied" and "distracted" and not noticing the hands were also in their wallets! One guy had $1200.00 lifted! The girls get their money up front and so when they are done, the guy leaves the bar and usually does not check his wallet other than to "feel" that it's still in his back pocket or where ever. Now, who's he going to complain to when he reaches for some money an hour or so later?

Wow, I know quite a few bartenders and barmaids, and I will say not one of the male bartenders I know are gay, where are you coming up with this vibe? A lot of the barmaids are university students, at least in my city of Kwangju. Sure they play, but no more than the happy so-ga-teen freaks out there, or the young women who go to booking clubs or host clubs. If you get to know a few of them, you will see that they aren't a whole lot different than you, it is just that Korean society treats them like crap because of their service job.
