I'm in the market for a new digital point and shoot.
The biggest disappointment I have with my current one is the quality in low light and shooting speed.
I want to find a camera that takes the best quality pics without having to resort to a DSLR.
Anyone have a camera that takes good quality pics? |

If you buy an entry-level DSLR, never upgrade the kit lens, and never use a mode other than 'auto,' yes, the EVILs might be better. For tatu, then, it certainly is a great suggestion. |

| Try a Canon s95 or the cheaper (last years model) S90. I have a Lumix LX3 but a better version is available. Also heard great things about the Canon G11. |

I have a Canon G11 and am very happy with it. On a recent trip a friend had an entry level DSLR and for the most part my pictures turned out better. This is probably half due to the very entry level of their camera and the fact that I know how to use my camera and they do not really know what they are doing.
I do not get the quality of a good DSLR from someone who knows what they are doing, but for me it is close enough, especially given that carrying around a large camera when I am on vacation annoys me enough to make me not want to take the camera.
The thing I have been happiest with is how it takes pictures in low light situations. That was my main complaint of the cheap Canon I bought 3 years ago. I think the G12 is coming out soon, so you might want to wait until then, but I am incredibly happy with the camera I have. |

I am not sure why you would say dont upgrade the kit lens or only use auto. Thats just insane. If you want to shoot better in low light, you go with a lens thats a lower F stop. Like a 1.4. And only noobs use auto all the time. But dont worry... we were all once noobs! As you get better you will use other modes like apperture priority. I shoot in full manual and can never go back to using auto.
I would advise getting a DSRL and be done with it. OF course, it depends on personal preferance. Do I hate lugging around my kit bag with 3 lenses, flash and accessories... you bet I do... but its so rewarding at the end of the day when I see my results. $1K can get you a nice starter DSLR.

After checking danawa.co.kr I see you can get a Nikon D90 with kit lens for around 1mil won. That would be a great starter camera.
Just my 2 cents. |

There is a comma there.
it's an entire sentence, good lord.

First he's creating a condition,
"If you buy an entry level DSLR, never upgrade the kit lens, and never use a mode other than 'auto'" this is a condition, he's not telling you what to do.
If you do that, then EVILs might be better than simply buying a DSLR.
He's saying that if you don't really use a DSLR like a DSLR than an EVIL might be a better choice for you. |

Dude, what are you smoking... the comma is irrelavant.
I know what he is saying.
I am simply saying that to NOT CHANGE the kit lens is crazy, secondly I am saying one should NOT ALWAYS use ONLY AUTO mode... The second part of the sentence is not related to the first part about kit lens and autio mode.
And please dont turn this into a stupid english lesson. |

| 2 people have tried to clear it up for you. If you'd like I'm sure we could draw you a picture. He isn't recommending that at all. He's saying that if someone did that then an evil would be fine for them. If you are going to be that ridiculously dense then this may be better as an English lesson. That is a pretty basic sentence construction after all. If A then B look it up and stop wasting time in this thread |
