Would it help if I changed the sentence structure?

EVILs might be better if you buy an entry-level DSLR, never upgrade the kit lens, and never use a mode other than 'auto.'

Make more sense now?

Have you used the EVIL cameras? They are pretty damn good paired with nice lenses. I mostly shoot with my GH1 (modded for higher bitrate video) with old contax G lenses (mainly 35/45mm). Superb quality, tiny package and pretty cheap.

Also consider some older cameras too. I love my Minolta 7D (also have a 5D) and you can pick them up for 300-400k in good condition. The Pentax K10D/GX-10 is also great bang for buck (again around 300-400k). Another good option is the G1 at around 275k.

Best advice I can give is to go out and try many cameras and see what you like the look/feel of. Too many people obsess about what camera to get when they are not likely to even see much differences in the results at normal print sizes.

I have all the cameras mentioned above and looking to sell them if you are interested. You are welcome to come try them out and see if you like any of them. No obligation to buy Smile
