I'm gong to Itaewon for the first time around Chuseok. Can you tell me what the best restarants for foreign food are in Itaewon?
Please list name and, if its hard to find, directions.
Thanks. |

Be better if you gave some idea of what food you like... but here are a few recommendations to start:
The Wolfhound for their all day breakfast, meat pie or toad in the hole.
Macaroni Market for their macaroni cheese.
Tartine's for dessert |

For Turkish food - Salam.
Best quality of food, ingredients and value for money in Itaewan for ANY type of food.
Holy Chow for NY style Chinese with amazingly big portions.
Thai Orchid / Thai Suki both doo fab, authentic Thai food at decent prices.
Marrakech Nights for Morrocan. Same as Salam for quality etc, but stay away from the buffet.
Indian - The one near gekkos - the Royal Taj - is it called? Ot Moghul behind KFC, also amazing quality buffets.
Italian sanwiches? - La boca
Um, I'm too tired to think of more, but there are plenty... |

Mmm... thanks for the heads up about Ho Lee Chow. I've been craving General Tso's chicken.

OP, is this your first time in Itaewon? How much do you want to spend? Do you want a buffet?
Um, other posters, if the person is new to the area you may want to post DIRECTIONS.
Oh, and I recommend Corner Bistro for steak, ribs, and burgers.

how about an avoid list too:
- pancho's, as the above poster said. what a scam. can't believe anyone goes there. its been around for ages though so somebody must like it.
- usmania. the rogan josh had a weird colour, texture and had big pieces of mushroom in it (correct me if i'm wrong but that isn't usually how rogan josh works). plus it was too expensive and another of those places that adds 10% tax on top of the advertised price, something i find really irritating.
- my thai. more expensive than other thai restaurants in the area, and nowhere near as good. i love tom kha kai but theirs was bland. people go there because its owned by hong seok-chon rather than because of the food.
- smokey saloon. this place is actually good, but the fact that its become a 'mania' restaurant among young koreans means it takes forever to get a table.
- taco bell. simply because amigo is across the street, and is much better.
- any korean restaurant that puts english translations in big letters on their signboards ('roasted entrails of a cow's small intestine and diverse organs in red pepper paste', you know the type). they're aimed at tourists and are thus a bit of a rip-off.. |

Good lord! You must be my nemesis!
This is THE WORST Indian restaurant I have been to in 11 countries. And I tried it twice just to make sure I didn't get them on an off day.
Good Holy son of GOD!
Someone help me out here! |

The one just down the street, from Geekos taco amiga or whatver it's called is decent.
I prefer Taco chilli chilli outside of Noksapyeon stn myself though, only a 5 min walk from itaewon. Less variety on the menu but what they do have is bloody good.
Oh and I find Wolfhound far above and beyond anywhere else in the town for Fry ups. They do a HUGE scrambled eggs on 2 toast with butter, jam etc for a meagre 4,000 won! Their full English breakfat is very good. I'd put Gekkos at 2nd. Despite it's huge fanbase I thought the RMT breakfast to truly suck. |

Aside from the nacho's and wings, RMT's menu is awful, and it's too bad because it used to be pretty good drunkard food. They've gotten way lazy on their quality. |

It's called Taco Amigo and I love it. It's a super small place that I usually just get carryout from but the burritos are decent size and they taste pretty good too. |

Have to agree with this one, this place was the first Indian restaurant I went to in Korea nobody suggested it I was just walking around with some friends and stumbled upon it. It was pretty bad they had tiny chunks of meat in the butter chicken and the lamb saag, it was a huge serving platter with all the rest of the stuff in it but somebody must have picked through it and taken all the meat or they didn't put much in when they served it.
I won't go back there but the place right across the street from what the book is decent. It's not that expensive and they actually have meat in the "meat" dishes. |
