I'm just looking for deodorant and a few other goodies. I know I can score all of it at the Ghost Market (Namdaemun), but I was hoping to find something closer.

Go to the open air market in downtown Uijongbu. There's a huge area inside under the canvas -- at least half a dozen vendors -- and a lot cheaper than Seoul. You ought to find your choice of brands for W3,000-W5,000. They've also antibacterial dishwashing liquid (cheaper than the stuff you buy at the Korean supermarket, believe it or not), shampoos, conditioners, liquid soap, and an assortment of food products at reasonable prices. From the train station side of the market, turn down the fruit aisle, walk into you see the vegetable adjumas inside the canvas, hang a right, and you'll walk straight into it. From the bus terminal side (not the city bus terminal, but the smaller parking lots where all the 20 and 30-route buses congregate, enter by the ready cooked foods. Weave your way past the dead fish, and again, you should eventually find yourself in the middle of it. Be warned, though, that the inside vendors are often closed on Sunday and always on national holidays.

There are some similar dealers at Second Market in Dongducheon, but the prices tend to be a little higher and you've got to watch expiration dates on food products and OTC drugs carefully.

Dawn, I went today and got Pace Picante Sauce, 6 ban roll-on deodorants, some cologne, one of those bags of 200 tootsie pops, some Irish Spring soap and I'll be making another trip soon. Thank you so much for those five-star directions.
