My missus has an Iphone 3GS and she wants to jailbreak it. I don't really want to do it just in case something goes wrong. Is there anywhere I can go to have it done by an expert? I live close to Yongsan, but I'm not sure if these guys will be able to help me.

YouTube! I followed a video from YouTube to jailbreak my sister-in-law's iPhone. Just be sure you watch a video for the firmware on the phone.

You start by downloading Purple Rain (software). Just find a tutorial you like and go for it. Smile

depending on what version it is.... (I think prior to 4.01) you can simply go to www.jailbreakme.com and it will do it for you.

(Use the iPhone browser)

Thanks for the replies. It's version 4.0.2. I don't want to brick the phone, so I really want to take it to someone who knows how.

I tried Jailbreakme.com but it says I need to downgrade the firmware to 4.0.1. Sigh...it looks like Apple are making it difficult to escape their grasp.

I'd rather do it myself. Cannot imagine paying someone to do something so simple. My sister-in-law has been using her phone happily for a year and a half now. Two friends of mine have jailbroken (is that a word?) their phones to use with T-Mobile and have had no problems.

Give it a whirl. Be brave!

Surprised

Is there a difference between the 3G and the 3GS? That tutorial was for the former, but I'm trying to jailbreak a 3GS.

Checked with a friend and found that apparently Apple is getting very squeenkie about these jailbreaks! Looks like they updated firmware for the 3gs 4.0.2 and it could be pretty difficult to get it done.

Foiled! Sad
