|
|
I will be taking my home leave vacation over the Christmas holiday season.
I know that the 14 days includes weekends, but does it also include holidays?
I ask because this year Christmas and New Years fall on the weekend.
Ive been hesitant to ask this question because usually it draws the negative posters out of the wood works who feel the need to let us all know how evil Korean people are about vacation. Oh well... |

Check your contract. I assume you're PS since you've got 14 days. It should say "working days". Which means only Monday to Friday, non-inclusive of holidays.
Unfortunately, this year Christmas Day falls on a Saturday so you don't get a bonus vacation day.
EDIT: I just re-read your post. Your contract includes weekends as vacation days? |

My contract doesnt usually include weekends in vacation days, but from what I recall, the home leave is different and does include weekends. |

Yup it does include Holidays.
Article 9
3. In the case of renewal of this contract pursuant to the foregoing 1, Employee shall be given a fourteen day (14) (weekend and national holidays inclusive) additional home leave vacation period which is extra, beyond the yearly paid leave. Home leave must be taken during the vacation periods not conflicting with school schedules either just before or just after the contract year is completed.
If your school is half way reasonable (which seems to be the case if you are renewing) it shouldn't be hard to squeeze an extra day or two out of it. Xmas is on Saturday I think. So in order to get home for Xmas, take leave from Friday - Friday. Thus getting the extra 2 weekend days at the end. If possible, book your flight back home for Thursday night, and ask your school if it's possible for you to leave a bit earlier on Thursday because of the flight (maybe ask them before booking ^^) |

14 calendar days from start to finish and if there are red days in there, so be it; your home leave is NOT extended further.

I'm an idiot. I didn't read "home leave", just "vacation".
The other posters are correct; home leave is two weeks with holidays and weekends inclusive. |
