Richard Copycat's All American Diner (next to the McDonalds) still makes a wicked bacon double cheeseburger + fries (15k or so)

15,000 for burgers and fries?

Oh wait kraze burger similar too Twisted Evil

The sad thing is most of these places aren't better than an Applebees or Chilis back home, yet double the price without a drink even included.

Yeah, if you're going to eat a decent burger at a restaurant here it's pricey. I prefer TGI Fridays burgers to most of the Itaewon disasters.

However, I've learned if I'm craving a burger, it's really best to make it myself. I made several the other night with Costco ingredients, splendid.

And I need to give a shout out to the Costco hamburger buns! They have the larger Shilla brand buns, not the tiny sesame ones that E-mart has. You get 3 six-packs of buns for 5,290. Good bread really makes the burger. Very Happy

I'm gonna have to check that out next time. I need to make a costco run this week. Any particular beef patties you found at costco that are better than others?

In Lotte Dept Store (Gueldong/Art Center), if you go downstairs, there's a sub shop where the Subway used to be.

Yep, and they use the same ingredients and everything as Subway.

The only problem is that the ajummas there are terrible at making sandwiches. Get it out of the wrapping and all the toppings fall off, are not evenly spread, sauce dripping off the sides and all over the wrapper, etc. But, it's the best option around unless you like the crap sold at Paris Bag.

I just buy the sourdough rye from Meili's and make my own sandwiches. I've had a veggie sub from Lotte, and it was passable because I asked them to only use a little sauce. Still, it beats Paris Baguette, as you said!

If I had to recommend a place NOT TO GO, it would be Pancho's.

In a nutshell: overpriced, inauthentic (even for Korea) and poor service to boot.

All the dishes we had ranged in quality from mediocre to just terrible. And the margarita pitchers my friends ordered cost in the W45,000 range! WTF? Margaritas weren't even good from what I was told.

They did have a fun duo of a cute korean girl and older latino guy doing live music (mainly in Spanish). That was the ONLY highlight.

On the other side of the coin, the absolute best restaurant in Itaewon (in my opinion) is Santorini. I haven't been to Greece, but this place would easily pass as a GOOD Greek restaurant back home for me (Toronto).
Go with 2-3 friends and get the meat platter. Trust me.

I can't believe Pancho's is still in business. Must be a front for some money laundering scheme. That place is garbage.

I think "best" has a lot to do with how hungry you were when you ate it.

Ripoff prices? Like Kraze Burger and Suji's? I'm not a "professional" food blogger so I can post the truth about prices.

you make a very good point. I agree it depends a lot on how hungry you are. I mean come on.. at the end of the day its meat in two buns! its pretty hard to mess it up. I mean if you are in the business of making burgers then I'm sure you can pretty much make one. any sunday BBQ someone is putting together burgers.

now if you want to break it down, how cooked are the buns, what kind of buns were they, is the meat fresh, was the meat dried before being placed on the bun, was the lettuce gourmet os the cheap kind, was the meat spiced, were the onions or tomatoes cut thick enough, balr blar blar blar

COULD I EAT IT? YES, Did it taste good. YES.
end of story!

Seoulmann, I'm sure the burgers are at least good at Chili Kings. You're not the only one who's said that. But did you try any other places?

I love the burgers at Chili King. kevin makes great food, he is the guy you want at a bbq working the grill. Laughing

have I tried any other burgers? umm well just your usual places I guess
Nashville which in my opinion was the place for the best burgers 10 years ago. I haven't really tried many shops these days, there seems to be a huge influx of burger bars in the last couple years. but In my opinion Chili King makes an outstanding burger so I get my burger fix there.
ohh I have tried the burger at Kraze burgers and I will never eat there EVER again. pure garbage, I mean I thought it was impossible to mess up a burger but those guys are doing it daily.
I heard SALON Burger is the top dog in Itaewon, but I refuse to wait inline to eat a burger so I have never eaten there.
