Didn't you also have various bathroom issues? |
What were they? I'm curious...
How are the bathrooms in Saudi Arabia? |

Hotwire - Whenever I attempt a comparison between Saudi Arabia and anything else, the thread eventually gets deleted. Why? Because some posters are unable to stay on topic and decide it's an opportunity for them to criticize Arabs, the middle east, Muslims etc.
Thankfully, I am able to stay on topic.
I've heard Dubai is expensive, to save money there is a little harder than Saudi Arabia.
If bars/nightclubs/alcohol are important to you, to live/work in Saudi Arabia would be a problem. If their absence wouldn't affect your life, then I think you may like it.
I've met a few non-Muslim teachers here and they are treated pretty well. Caucasians are well-liked.
You get free transport, accommodation (or allowances for both), a tax free salary, hot weather for most of the year, the absence of everyday major crime, airfare paid both ways, and a 30 - 60 day paid vacation.
Salary can vary from $2000 - $4500 a month, it all depends on your qualifications and experience. It also depends on how soon an employer needs you.
Last year, I was on $2000 a month with a fairly new company. I now have over 3 years teaching experience from around the world and a TESOL certificate. My new job pays $2,870 a month, that's the exact amount.
In short, I love it, but if somebody is a party loving non-Muslim, this may not be for them.
In Korea, I felt my work colleagues were disrespectful and nasty. The money also wasn't exactly meteoric. Here, they don't give you any hassle, it's easy money. The students here have the power though, so you can't be too strict with them.
I love it here. |

So 3K USD a month would be pretty decent? Hmmm
I could do without the bars and clubs just fine.
No booze at all for a year though -that is completely out of the question I think.
As for students having the power- same in Korea.
Someting to think about for after I leave here next sept. Might be able to get over in time for an Oct start with a uni. Doubt I'd bother though... |

Korea has questionable enough laws and social behavior towards females and children.
Saudi Arabia has draconian and abhorhent laws and police policies towards both.
You can keep it. I wouldn't go near any country that has caveman attitudes and standards.
For that money....... damn thats nothing to skite about
Ah well, whatever pulls your chain, sorry for the toilet reference |

IIRC, his co-workers complained about the smell and mess from his explosive diarrhea which he neglected to flush.
On Dave's we are merely subject to his verbal diarrhea.. |

How dare you besmirch my good name!
At my last school in Korea, various male teachers would live their diarrhea swirling in the toilet without even flushing it.
Yucky yucky. |

Have you begun science experiments with yeast yet in S.A.?
I heard bad things about public toilets in S.A. Do the Saudis have better toilet etiquette than your former Korean co-workers? |

To be honest some of the public toilets here are dirty. At the university, students are shared by students and staff, they are hardly sparkling either. However, I've never seen diarrhea floating around in any toilets here, not even once. |

Have you begun science experiments with yeast yet in S.A.?

If you want bread buddy, make your own!
Talking of science, are you trying to suggest I'm some rocket scientist?!!!
I'm flattered. |

In S.A., yeast is valued for something other than making bread, and one doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to change sugars into something flammable with yeast. That has been happening long before rockets.
So are we to assume that you have now dried out in the Golden Sand Trap?

I meant to say toilets.
Yeast wasn't mentioned in the OP, I knew staying on topic was impossible for some. |
