I was wondering if there are places to spar in Seoul that aren't tied down to a specific martial art? I know there are Taekwondo schools all over the place, but I'm looking for somewhere that I can practice free-martial arts that will allow close quarter weapon training- Dummy knives, batons etc.

In Britain I've never had any problem with finding appropriate space to practice, but I'm guessing Seoul is going to be a bit more difficult... I'm not looking for anywhere that offers specific training, just an open room where I can train with friends.

There are a couple of places in/around Itaewon that offer interdisciplinary training and may have open gym slots for people to come in and train.

There's a place called "The Way" in Gyungnidan (the road across from HBC leading up to the Hyatt) as well as another place above the Noxa and Sydney Sea Food restaurants at the bottom of the hill, and another called TMAS on the main road in Itaewon, kind of across from the McDonalds.

There's also a gym in Hongdae called "Superkick" that offers MMA style training.

I don't have any contact info on these places, but hopefully it's a start for you.
