after having my contract cancelled with CBFLIS i was supposed to have an interview with a school in Paju and that's been postponed for the 3rd time now.

I've registered with a few more agencies and EPIK seem a challenge to get into; i can't get letters of reccommendation on headed paper

I have the following qualifications:

MA- English Literature
BA- English Literature
Diploma - English Language

CELTA TEFL

and i have nearly 2 years of experience working in schools, as a teaching assistant and a cover supervisor. i am also multi-lingual.

i'm 31 and female and a British citizen.

if anybody could help me find a job that would be brilliant. and my husband will also be travelling with me, but he is not a teacher.

Have you got any TEFL experience? If so I'd apply to the British Council. If not, try the university route

I don't i'm afraid.

can i still apply to universites without having a teaching licence?

and how do i apply to universities? i haven't seen any listings on TEFL job sites.

A lot of Korean universities only require an MA in any subject. They assume that's enough to teach EFL. The good ones probably require experience in TEFL at university level as well but there adverts on Dave's for Unis that don't.

If you're going for non UNI / TEFL etc specific jobs I kid you not when I say ommit you MA and any higher quals from your resume and just display your BA.

5 of the biggest recruiters in Seoul advised me to do similar and told me that public schools as well as many hakwans only want non experienced fresh grads this year (NA females being preffered) that they can pay 2mil - 2.1 mil max.

Compared with employers in our culture,
employers in Korea focus less on individual qualifications and more on teamwork.
In fact, employers in Korea have been known to turn down highly qualified candidates for fear that they would intimidate less qualified employees.

I think a lot of the top jobs in Europe want post MA / CELTA experience.

I'm in the UK and most of the jobs that i've seen on the Med are either low pay or want more experience. i wanted to come to South Korea because the salary and perks seem good, i can gain experience, live in a different part of the world and save money. it will put me in better steed when applying for my next job.

and i've paid �236:00 to a public notary today to have my certificates apostilled.

i'm feeling really down at the lack of offers coming in but i will try ommitting my MA. the agnecies that i spoke to seemed happy with it
