|
|
I like good beer.
I would like to purchase then drink good beer.
Does anyone know where in Seoul someone can perform this act of both purchasing and then drinking said good beer?
I am sorry, but I do not consider Budweiser good beer. I would love to find a place that has some good import (preferably Belgian/German) beers on tap. A bonus if it's not outlandishly expensive. |

Oktoberfest, Castle Praha, and most well known bars in Itaewon.
Western "ice bars" in any neighborhood, but you'll pay for it. |

Where is this, exactly?
Also, Hofbrau House in Kangnam is pretty authentic. It's a chain of the real thing. Check out this video.

| There's an Oktoberfest in Sinchon, too. On the same street as Chois Tacos (*vomit*), walk past there and on the same side of the street on one of the upper floor of a tall building, maybe 4th or 5th floor I think. Just before The Coffee Bean. |

Check this thread. They still have the all-you-can-drink special in Gangnam.

| Emart, Home Plus, and Lotte mart stores sell bottles of various imports from Europe, Asia, and America. |

This is most excellent. Thanks for the referrals for both the bars and the grocery store options to pick up some bottles.
If there are any more tips, keep 'em coming.

I googled it...lol...and it's closed! No surprise there. Too bad. Oktoberfest beer is good, though. Much better than Castle Praha, imho. |

Not sure, but Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hofbr%C3%A4uhaus) says that the Hofbrauhaus in Korea is closed. If someone can confirm it's open, let us know. |

I think I went there. Every beer was still mega fizzy. Not proper beer IMO (unless it was another place I was at)
I would love to know where to get proper flat cask ale, but I have a feeling it doesn't exist. |

Deutsches Haus is like next door to and upstairs from Jane's Groove. You know, that street in Hongdae that has the 7/11 and the big soju tent restaurant, Mom & Daddy Sneakers, the place with cocktails in ziploc bags, all that stuff. It's on that street, there's a big sign that says DEUTSCHES HAUS on the second or third floor. Pretty hard to miss, actually. Assuming it's still there and hasn't closed (can anyone verify this)?
They have German food and most of the major German beer brands, like I think they have HB, Erdinger, Hacker-Pschorr, Spaten, Paulaner, etc. |

No, you're not gonna find cask-conditioned ale in Korea because Asian people don't really drink ale, they prefer light lager beer. If you want a real ale you pretty much have to get out of Asia altogether.
Probably the closest thing you'll find in Korea is Alley Cat, it's a Canadian pale ale. They sell it at most bars in Itaewon. |
