Just wanted to let you know that they got the letters and are 'considering' testing 'fan death'.

Just got 30 letters from 5&6 graders in Seoul, ALL saying we should test "Fan Death"- leaving a fan on while u sleep can kill u. Should we?

If you follow the link, it's to a pic of the letters.
Whoever you are, be sure to let your kids know that their letters were not only received, they were read too!
And for anyone on Twitter, encourage Adam to test this myth! |

there isn't any class in my school that could produce all those well-written letters. |

This old chestnut again. I've always thought that the only way a fan could kill you is, if someone threw into the bath tub while it was switched on. BTW, impressive letters from the kids. It's amazing how good some of these kids are. I have a 3rd grade middle school student who writes like a university student, and she's never even left Korea in her life. |

in very rare cases, yes, a ceiling fan can aid in death. you see, a ceiling fan in an unventilated room can cause a convection current causing excess dehydration to those who are already very dehydrated. in most situations, the victims are those to old or young to care for themselves. |

It's a myth. As is elementary-aged kids in Korea writing English as well as high school students in English-speaking countries. |

I don't know about that. Some of the kids in the UK are beyond stupid, and are existing somewhere in the realm of the educationally subnormal. |

For the least suspenseful episode of Mythbusters ever maybe... Heck, I've "tested" fan death and woke up fine. |

I can personally vouch for the fact that primary school age kids with amazing English skills do exist, but by Christ are they rare. Getting someone else to correct or do the work for you, on the other hand, is anything but rare.
Love how impressed the commenters are. If only they knew...

Korean people had it right after all fans can kill. They just tend to give the wrong reason. |
