I never noticed the shoe guys, and I have big a** feet for a girl. My shoe size doesn't exist here.

You'll find better shoes at Shinsegae. Ignore the subway lurkers and their plastic shoes and you'll be better off.
I've never bought shoes at Shinsegae, but you may be right. I once had a lady in one of the underground shops try to sell me a pair of no name shoes for 130,000...I just walked off...totally insane...I once spent 230,000 on a pair of Sue Comma Bonnie shoes at Lotte. Sue Comma Bonnie is a famous brand. I got tons of compliments on those shoes from guys an girls...only to have one of them start squeaking with every step I took within 6 months. Talk about crap quality...never again...and they say only cheap shoes made here start squeaking a few months later...price does not always equal great quality.

I once got a pair of $500 Robert Clergerie (a master shoemaker if there ever was one) flat boots for much less (my friend is a buyer for photo shoots, celebrities, and department stores) and they were the most comfortable things I'd ever put on my feet, besides sneakers. That was 7 years ago, and with proper maintenance, they're still in great shape. Even at full price they would have been worth it.

I also have a pair of handmade sandals that were $250 that I got many years ago. They were molded to my feet in a small shop in the east village that's been there for decades. The owner designs all of the shoes for the Eileen Fisher catalogue, and gives a 10 year warranty on all custom sandals. They're still comfy and gorgeous. She even re-soled them for free a couple of years ago.

Sometimes things are worth the extra money. Sometimes people are just paying for a brand name. I don't do that. I buy quality pieces that are timeless and that last.
