I live in a very quiet area in northern Saudi Arabia, about a hundred miles south of Iraq and Jordan. Best thing about it is that it's quiet and, in its own way, very pretty. Worst thing about it is that it's a 30 minute drive to the nearest town, but I don't really mind. Peace & quiet is everything.
I used to live opposite Emart in Eungam, Seoul. That was great in every way except the noise. Lived there for 3 years. Then I lived in Cheomdan near Gwangju, Jeolla. Best thing about that was that it wasn't too noisy and had lots of fantastic tuna restaurants and, even more remarkably for a small town that nobody's ever heard of, had a German microbrewery and a Czech bar. Reliant on buses and taxis to go anywhere, though - you can't beat the Seoul subway. |

Anyang. A far corner of Anyang, too. So it's out the way of all the noise of, say, Beomgye, but actually quite close - a few minutes walk - from the Train station.
I like it because I live *inside* a market, up some stairs, and everything I need is within 20 seconds walk. Everything. Opticians, Groceries, shoes, air conditioners, Tv's.
The worst thing is I can't FIND CREAM! Urrrrgh.
And I keep getting sick repeatedly which I'm going to blame on all the market hygiene I have to walk through every day.
But this area is really very Korean to me. It feels like I'm abroad, compared to when I enter Seoul (which is a short subway ride). Very happy with this place but I will still go to Seoul next contract I think. Or China. |

I'm in the northen part of Seogwipo and the best part is a clear view of Halla mountain from my 7th floor apartment and the centrality of the neighbourhood for zipping around the southern coast of Jeju by car. The tennis courts and tangerine orchards are pretty cool too.
The worst part is not being able to see the ocean from up here (flat plateau with too many buildings to see the sea, and a full 1.5 km from the shore so the sea breeze doesn't hit either unless I walk/bike/drive down to it through the downtown area). |

Positives:
I like the proximity to the subway (under ten minute walk) and the easy access to Seoul that gives me (Hongdae/Itae/Kangnam in about an hour or less). I like my apartment, as it's a very large studio on the tenth floor a huge window overlooking the mountains that ring the city. I really enjoy spending my day in my apartment and watching the weather.
Negatives:
Taxis back from Seoul are freaking expensive here compared to when I lived five minutes away in Uiwang, for whatever reason. My boss lives nearby. It's a 30 minute commute to work, door-to-door. I get the feeling real estate is really pricey, as there aren't any cheap butcher shops or laundromats around, whereas in my craptacular old neighborhood there were a ton for a significantly less densely populated area.
Conclusion: I want to stay at my current job mostly because of my apartment and locale. |

I just moved into the Konkook area about 2 months ago. Can't complain about anything having lived in Banghwa for a year. |
