Time to choose a new smartphone. I've read the pros and cons of both, but any input on which 'after service' is better? |

There was talk among Koreans at the launch of the iPhone in Korea that Apple's A/S could not possibly be as good as Samsung's, in Korea.....
.....but that may have been just speculation. I haven't heard anything bad about either company's A/S.
I wouldn't worry about it because both companies have a quibble-free returns policy for about 60 days after sale........absolutely anything wrong with your phone in that period and they will fix or replace it for free. |

My friend's Iphone 3GS was stolen. Took 2 weeks to get a replacement with the Insurance.
I doubt it woudl take 2 weeks to get a replacement GAlaxy S.
Can you imagine those people whose Iphone 4's break/lost/stolen? Would probably take a month to replace that. |

I played with a friends iphone4 today, impressions are it's smaller screen isn't as much fun as the galaxys, it's heavy, and android looks cleaner and easier to use, but then she had it set up for her so could be adjusted slightly from that to make it better.
I went galaxy before iphone was released, still glad I did!
Thee above poster is missing the point, with that money you save you'll be buying an mp3 player, a pmp, a camera, a hd video camera, a map a compass, a gps etc etc |

Biggest difference for me was the added weight of the iphone and the smaller screen size.
Another minor difference was the fact that the Iphone doesnt come with an extra battery. I use my phone for everything, so I tend to use up alot of battery (recharge every day), so the extra battery I carry around with me is a life saver. |

what have either of these posts got to do with a/s of phones which was the OP's question?
i cant speak for galaxy s yet as i havent needed to use it but a friend got water in his iphone 3gs and they basically gave him a refurbished one instead of repairing it plus quite a big charge..300k or something. i read recently a 13 year old korean girl (via her dad) is suing iphone over a/s and the cost of repairs. she had to pay a similar amount even though it was 2 months old.
maybe if your worried i think the best bet would be to pay a little extra a month and get insurance. i think its like 2 or 3 thousand won a month. |

Refurbished replacement is quite normal, it's in the warranty agreement when you buy it.. you get a new or like new replacement,KT is raking in the money though by charging people to replace their phones.. no sense in suing Apple over that when it's KT that's charging the money not Apple. Does one have to take the phone to KT in order to have it replaced? |

haha my comment actually came across abit harsh
is it definitely KT charging? wouldnt u take a damaged iphone to an apple service centre rather than the carrier?
maybe its because there aren't apple service centres dotted everywhere so most people take it to KT who send it off.
i mean if i got a prob on my galaxy s i would go to a samsung service centre as they're the hardware guys so i'd assume they're the ones who can fix it.
Specifically in the article the girl was charged by apple on a 2 month old phone that had some kind of water damage from rain, hence the litigation is aimed at apple.
I'd be interested to see what SK/Samsung do with a damaged galaxy s. What charges if any would be incurred. |

Actually, KT deferred all A/S repairs to Apple Korea. Apple Korea refused to cover her phone under warranty because the watermark to detect water damage had changed color. So, she's suing Apple because they refused to repair her phone, despite it never gotten wet.
If you read on the internet, there are quite a number of complains about those watermarks. They would change color just from humidity. |

They can change colour but who's to say the phone didn't get wet? She could have taken the issue further up the line instead of suing imo.. Does it say what sensors were tripped? the ones in the doc connector or in the headphone jack or an internal one? Apple would/should have a CR department for Korea that a complaint could have been escalated to if it wasn't done already. If the girl wins the lawsuit any tom dick or harry could take their phones that have been legitimately water damaged and have them replaced because those sensors were tripped.iIt seems that they're implementing the same policies as they do in NA in terms of warranty.
In regards to the carrier, they're the ones charging/taking in the money, if Apple had some service centers than they should in all reality take it to one of them. They would have to be trained on the iphone though as if i you take it to any other place and it's opened up the warranty is null and void. |
