No one's mentioned the annual contest to see who can hold out the longest. In previous years, I was probably among one of the first to turn mine on. However, I seem to be fine this year.

After waking up shivering this morning, it's coming on when I get home tonight.

In the 3 years I've been here, I've never once turned the heat on. I'm on the top floor and I get enough heat from the apartment below me and on the sides.

Besides, I'm full-blooded Finnish, Korean winters are nothing Very Happy

Been using my ondol for a couple of hours at night, and 30 mins in the am, for 3 weeks now.

I'm on the bottom floor, with an open-ided garage under my floor, so I don't get any heat from apartments below. It's getting really nippy now.

I'm not too sure about this 4 seasons stuff. Only 3 weeks after I stopped using the aircon - I'm using the heating. This has to be some kind of record.

I had my aircon on last night. My apartment is nice, but there are no screens in the windows.

October was the first month I didn't have the aircon on 24/7. My electric bill was half what it used to be!

I kind of like having that extra hundred bucks. I'm going to hold out as long as possible on the ondol. Socks, sweat pants, and long sleeve shirts are my new lounge clothes (replacing the boxers only attire in the summer.)

I don't think it should count if I only turn on the ondol because I have a lady guest that's cold. Korean women have the thinnest skin in the world. I know some that seriously started wearing sweaters and turning their classroom heaters on at the end of August!

I'm still wearing shorts and a t-shirt while riding my bicycle around...nowhere near cold enough yet for me to turn on my heat Smile

...though I do admit to having my AC off for the last few weeks, and actually needing to close my windows some nights....

I've been using ondol for weeks. I almost never use air-con, so my heating bills are going to go from 0-100,000...

I'm from northern Canada, but I hate, hate, hate cold. I don't like air con, it's always way too cold for me. I should move to India.

I don't mind being hot, but hate being cold, so I've been running mine for an hour here an hour there for at least a month.

How much does your ondol add to your lecky bill each month?

I used my small air heater last night and was comfortable. The first night of Winter was so peaceful and quiet as could be. I'm happy about Winter as that means I'm nearing closer to my flight date. The cold makes dogs and people tone it down to a minimal level.
