"Hi Maude, yeah, I'm back in 1928. Not much to see here, and I'm really regretting these shoes..major social faux pas.."

The film was apparently doctored from what I remember. (Didn't this come out a while ago?)

"I have studied this film for over a year now - showing it to over 100 people and at a film festival, yet no-one can give any explanation as to what she is doing.

My only theory - as well as many others - is simple... a time traveler on a mobile phone."

Of course, time traveler...it's so simple. Rolling Eyes

Did you just figure that out?

Or have you seen this discussion hashed out already somewhere else?

Aha! I knew there was a reasonable and mundane explanation. Of course I'm crushed...but there you go.

The question is; Does time travel exist?
- I am not going to answer that since the concept is in the beginning phases.

But the person behind the project is Dr. Ronald Mallett from UConn

Believe it or not, there were cell phones in 1928, but the batteries weighed 70 pounds.

There were also home television broadcast recorders in England, so you could watch your favorite cricket matches again and again and again. But they used aluminum disks instead of tape. There were demonstrations of color television, but no regular broadcasts. And there was digital data and image transmission. The Great Depression slowed the proliferation of these technologies.

But seriously, many people back then were hard of hearing -- probably from walking around listening to their portable stereo Victrolas too loud. They didn't know that prolonged exposure to loud noise could cause hearing loss.

So a person who is hard of hearing might pull their upper ear lobe forward to hear an announcement. Try it. You would use your index and middle fingers. And one might mutter to oneself, "I'm late," or "Where did I park my car?" or "Carbon based life forms just have no sense of humor," or something. I often mutter to myself, it's a form of thinking aloud. Back then people were less self-conscious about their image. Especially after having two too many.

Did you know that Nicola Tesla thought he was a time traveler from the future? He was hoping to get to Ancient Greece, eventually. He astutely didn't specify what planet he lived on in the future.

The biggest problem with the theory of time travel is that the carbon based life forms on this planet are not going to be around long enough to invent it.

Oh, and the British are world class, Olympic gold medalist hoaxsters. It's their national sport.

Think. If you could travel back in time to 1928, what would you bring with you?

I'd bring a whole lot of antibiotics and birth control pills. Those flappers are hot to trot.

People with aspergers etc. ahve a tendency to do this too.

Who would they be taking too anyway?
aaand, you need a satellite/radio tower to get a signal. Even now I can't talk to anyone when im out of range.

This was a futuristic cellphone, duh. They can transmit by their own power to whatever they want to. She was probably conversing with her overweight cohorts in the future. I bet she was the fittest they could find and her goal was to stop worldwide obesity before it started.

My three possible theories:

-there is something loud coming from the direction of the camera, she is covering her ear to block it

-she is adjusting her wig

-(assuming she was not part of the cast) saw the camera and didn't want to be filmed so she hid her face.

The concept of time travel is absurd. no matter what anyone (including Stephen Hawking) says about it's credibility.
